"…When I saw the sketch for the Mazarite Defense ship that was done for the ENTERPRISE episode "Fallen Heroes" I knew I had to build it. The design was not used on the episode but it was still a great design. Working from only the B&W sketch, I had to take some creative license to make a working model of this asymmetrical design. I first drew up some three view drawings and from there I made some vacuum form patterns from Ren Shape. These were then formed and used as the main hull section, the Engine pod and the center pod. The wing was made from 1/8" clear acrylic for stiffness and the pods were cut to fit the wing section. The model measures 13 ¼" long with a wingspan of 10 ½". The engine bussard collector was made in clear acrylic painted with Tamiya transparent red. As this was only a B&W sketch, I had to take some liberty to come up with a color scheme for the model. I settled on Tamiya flat blue with the wing feathers painted in Gun Metal with transparent red on the ends to give the model some color…"
