There are a few plates showing early AWI American troops wearing cloth grenadier mitre caps.
It would be fun to have a few scattered stands showing these odd troops. It seems that Continental plastics or headless King's Mountain 28mm troops would be a good starting point. Does anyone make suitable DYE British grenadier heads?

I honestly cannot think of anyone off-hand; HaT are the only plastics in 28mm, but are not a match for metal 28mm. An obvious answer would be head-swaps with SYW/FIW figures, but then you'd be left with "dead" figures that you didn't want. You could ask someone like Redoubt or Conquest if they'd make some head moulds from their FIW grenadiers.

Alternatively, you could conceivably use Hessian grenadiers if you shave off the moustache and pigtail. The one bugbear kit-wise is the tournister, but early Continental regiments did use a mish-mash of kit, so if you filed off the hair and painted them red oxide or some other "waterproof" colour, you could get away with them.

From memory, I think it was only a few companies of the 26th Continental Regiment that had them for any length of time once the war started – there's a plate in the first volume of the newer "Washington's Army" Osprey.

Does the Wargames Factory War of Spanish Succession sprue have a suitable head (or one that could be easily modified?)

Are any of them SYW British grenadier miter caps?

Not that I am aware of, the only way would be to buy some suitable 7yw figs and do a head swap, or have a go at sculpting your own
