"TV news, SyFy will develop TV series based on bestselling sf saga OLD MAN'S WAR by John Scalzi. Titled GHOST BRIGADES, the series follows John Perry, who enlists at the Colonial Defence Force to fight a centuries-long war for man's expansion into the cosmos. Technology allows experiences and consciousness to be transplanted into younger bodies that are outfitted to endure the harsher rigours of war in space. However, soon after John arrives, he finds himself involved with a mysterious woman and at the centre of an unravelling conspiracy involving an elite fighting force known as the Ghost Brigades" From Hollywood Spy.

Sounds good. They got the green tint on the genetically engineered bodies right. I've read all of the 'Old Man's War' books except for 'The Human Division' which I'll get to soon. There's definitely fertile background and stories in the five books for SyFy to mine for material and maybe even 'expand' the universe. |

I like the book too. I would feel much more confident if HBO did it than SyFy. However, they did do a decent if pedestrian job on Battlestar Galactica and Stargate. |

Loved the books. Fingers crossed. And HBO would be a much better choice. SyFy never misses an opportunity to miss an opportunity. |

Um..guys..it's SyFy. They cancelled every good show. Made countless horrible TV films. Have a record for dumbest programming ever since Bonnie took over. You can hope…. I guess. |

As noted, great source material – hope they will do it justice |

I wouldn't hold my breath for SyFy. Too bad someone more reputable didn't get the rights. |

Hmmmm, Did the books have sharks in them? |

> They cancelled every good show. They usually cancel after three years, at one year per book (not counting the last one told from the Daughter's point of view) that makes 3 seasons, perfect! |

I don't really see how they are going to get over the idea that hunky good looking whomever is playing John Perry was actually a geriatric old man in his previous life. And it's been a few years since I read them – but I don't recall that the "Ghost Brigades" were a mystery per se, or that there was any particular mystery they were involved in. But I read them several years and several hundred books ago so I may well be mistaken! |
