We are very pleased to preview our Early Imperial Roman range -- the late Principate -- in 15mm scale.

The models were made especially for the late part of the era of the "good emperors," and in particular Marcus Aurelius. This was the period in which the empire was at its height, and Gibbon even argued that it was the only time in history when "the happiness of a great people was the sole object of government."

Of course there were still wars aplenty--they were Romans after all! Even in Marcus Aurelius's reign there was a major war with the Germans and Sarmatians, war with Parthia, and the possibility of rebellion in Syria.

We will be releasing:

picture

Legionaries with pila or swords (both are provided)

picture

Auxilia with lancea or swords (again both are provided)

picture

Archers

picture

Infantry command including many standard options--even an imago to go with the Emperor

Cavalry

Note that the legionaries in this period wore beards and moustaches in emulation of the emperor, but it's quite likely they would have done so anyway when on campaign.

These will be released in a few days.

Good stuff! Will shields be available separately, e.g. to provide oval shields for the centurions of auxiliary units?

HANS GRUBER06 Aug 2014 8:58 a.m. PST

Very nice looking Legionaries. The mixture of armor is really good. I think they will probably rank up better on a DBx base with sword rather than pila (which looks out of proportion in any event).

I agree with Skeptic. Seperate shields shields will be helpful. Even better would be an oval shield option (available from your Late Roman range?)

Oh Bugger06 Aug 2014 10:24 a.m. PST

God they're fine. Choice of shield would be good.

The cavalry look amazing.

Jamesonsafari06 Aug 2014 12:34 p.m. PST

I do like that you have provided multiple standard choices.
So many Roman cohorts all march under identical signa.

Terrence Altius06 Aug 2014 1:44 p.m. PST

Those are beautiful!

Sobieski06 Aug 2014 5:35 p.m. PST

Not my scale, but very tasty indeed.

TiberiusAugustus06 Aug 2014 7:06 p.m. PST

You got an order from me

These are great, was looking for a good 15mm Roman line recently, was going to go with Covus belli, but I wanted to ask them a couple of questions, and they never replied to me, so I will go with my favourite miniature manufacturer instead.

Thanks Gunner!

These look absolutely awesome. I suspect that I'm going to have to pick some (well a lot…) of these up. For some weird reason I can't access the Khurasan Miniatures webpage though. I can do it through my phone, but not my work computer – and as near as I can tell, it's the only page that times out. Dashedly strange.

Huh, for once a movie was right? The opening scenes of Gladiator show an Aurelian army that looks awfully close to these!

Jojojimmyjohn07 Aug 2014 9:44 a.m. PST

Amazing. Definitely on the to get list.

Jojojimmyjohn07 Aug 2014 12:43 p.m. PST

So I take it the "both provided" note about pila and swords for the infantry means separate weapons?

Lewisgunner08 Aug 2014 10:04 a.m. PST

Hmmmm some ace figures there Khurasan

TwinCities Gamer18 Aug 2014 6:46 p.m. PST

Lovely! Now I'm thinking of painting Romans again. I hear the third time is a charm.

Just curious.
