Is there anything at all similar to MB's old Battle Masters product that could serve as an intro to napoleonics for beginners out there?

Try Battle Cry, ACW but close enough!

Wow, what an idea. I can't think of introducing it any other way than bringing someone to a game with a table full of miniatures. That's what attracted me…

Well, Battle Masters HAD miniatures, just already based and colored enough to get by.

I'd suggest looking for an old copy of Risk with the nappy uniforms, and some Heroscape tiles to make a board.

Now what to use for rules? Has to be so braindead simple as to offend any right-thinking player of the period. The idea of playing on hexes should do it anyway.

Note: I've fist-fulls of both, so this is more than passing interest.

Fate of Battle is simple enough that just about anyone can learn them in an hour and it produces a good game where reasonable tactics from the period work pretty well.
