Hello:

I know that the 2nd Company had their numbers in red. It appears from Jean Restayn's artwork that the 3rd Company had light blue edged in yellow.

Can anyone enlightrn me further? My time reference is for Normandy around the Totalize offensive in early August 1944.

Thanks in advance!

Sounds right. 2nd company was 'famous' for being led by Wittmann. I believe 1st company tanks would be black numbers edged in white based on the Hussar decals and color reference guide I got some years ago.

Tigers in Combat II by Schneider says that the 1st company had olive green numbers with a white outline. Though in the one colour illustration of such a Tiger the number looks more like just a white outline since you can see the cammo pattern run through the number. This may be an artist's error though.

2nd company had red outlined in white and the 3rd had blue with yellow outline.
