Hi all,
I am looking for some 28mm or 40mm high quality "cowboy" miniatures. These are for painting purposes only and not for gaming. Looking for sculpt quality over low cost. What would you consider to be the best manufacturers. I have done some basic google searching and have found a few ranges however I have been unimpressed by these. Thankyou,
Paddy

Tell us who you have been unimpressed by.

Gringo's 40 makes a few 40mm Old West figs.

Foundry has a very nice 25mm range.

Black Scorpion "Tombstone" Range, 32mm to the top of the head. Beautiful resin sculpts.

If you're just looking for a few nice sculpts, I would recommend Reaper's small offering of old west figures.

If you're looking for an entire range of nice figures, Foundry, Knuckleduster and Artizan Designs make some decent figures. Maybe check out Blackwater Gulch's figures (I haven't seen them in person.)

What ranges didn't you like?

(I personally like HLBS's old 40mm line; you wouldn't like'em -- rough sculpts -- but I like that style of sculpt because when they're painted they look like a Fredrick Remington painting :)

Maybe the 40mm Spaghetti Western line (formerly HLBS):

Here are my HLBS figures – many are rough sculpts, but there are a few gems that might suit your needs. I think the best sculpts are in the Spaghetti Western line (now sold by Minifigs.UK): link

Thanks for the info everyone. Just ordered from black scorpion. HBLS seem great too. Knuckleduster were the miniatures I wasn't impressed with. Thanks for the help. I will hopefully upload pics when they are painted.

Eureka has 40mm old west, Butch & Sundance, the Younger Gang & a spaghetti western character. Excellent detail and animation.

Brigade has some nice ones …

I found the Brigade ones to have some great character but the sculpts were a bit on the poor side.
