I found this discussion from a way back but no updates TMP link Anyone use either of these for use with card? I was looking at one and it had a foam board setting. |

My wife has a Cricut. It runs strictly on proprietary cartridges. While I did get an Old West cartridge for making signs to go on buildings, I couldnt adapt the machine to be useful to me. |

There does appear to be a software tool available to create your own designs though what flexibility it has I don't know. There is also a possibility that it works with other image types that can be created from other design software but no idea what those would be – it should tell you somewhere on the website. |

I use a Silhouette, and really love it. You are constrained by the cutting area, but you can easily fit many things into that area, and the Silhouette Cameo does offer you a larger cut area too. And you can import your own models and create cut/score files for yourself. I am slowly (its a hobby project, not a job) making cutfiles for the Eric Hotz Roman Seas ships and for Fiddler's Grren's air racers. |

I LIKE the Silhouette tool, but you can search out other options online as well. Crafters have embraced these cutters, so we get a boost from their interest… |

OK… so No on the Cricut. Yay on the Silhouette. Cool. Thanks everyone. |

Could I please ask a couple of question, can the silhouette etch or cut plasticard? If so how quickly? Was thinking of using it cut hatches, grills and other bits. Regards MMG. |

If you put that question into google you'll see a lot of answers. I have only done card and photopaper thru mine. |
