I've always fancied a Moorish army for Saga and having attended Claymore today here in Scotland, I saw Gripping Beast have a Crusades rulebook. I bought a few packs of Artizan Moors and would like to know the make-up of a Saracen/Moorish faction, ie what would I need to purchase for a 4pt/6pt faction? I'd like a guide before randomly buying figures!

Unfortunately the Moors are the only faction that hasn't been spotlighted in a preview.

The Saracens have mounted Warlord and hearthguard, with the option of having bows. The warriors can be on foot or mounted and also can have bow. Levy are always foot and always have bow. The preview is at the link, with the English after the French. link

What units to pick for 4/6 points is up to you and I wouldn't want to giver any advice until I see the battle board at the very least.

If you are looking at Almoravids then you could use the Mutatawi'a faction that have been spotlighted here:

(scroll down for the English version of the post).
It states in the blurb that one of the characters that you can take was the founder of the Almoravids, so I'm pretty sure that this list is where they will fit. Well that is how I have interpreted it and I've based my army around 2 mounted hearthguard a dismounted warrior spear unit and a dismounted warrior archer unit. I've also used Artizan figures.

@dualer,
You should've bought the rules and you would've answered your own question.
@Natholeon,
I believe that the Mutatawi'a faction is separate from the Moors list.

I'd like to know too, I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of the rules to pick a new faction.

Moors are very similar to Saracens, but exchange the option of bows for javelins.

cheers

At £30.00 GBP for a set of rules, I thought I would avoid the rush to buy and wait for the price to drop, as they surely will and concentrate on getting the figures and get painting started.

I don't believe that has happened with the previous rulebook and supplements.

Personally I feel that £30.00 GBP is a very realistic price for such a beautiful product.
