I am finally ready to start working on my CMG ZAS pledge figures, and I've decided to do them in a sort of not-stormtrooper scheme.
I also found a nice blog post on not-SW forces at trojanpoints.blogspot.com/2014/05/galactic-battalion-15mm-not-star-wars.html

I decided to try the ARC APC, but in the end I wanted legs on the thing. Fortunately, CMG also sells various mech parts separately now, so I grabbed a few pairs to go with the APCs.

These are all just bluetacked together, so I'm looking for some feedback.

Option 1 is to just elevate the APC on legs, with some minor card work on the bottom to hold the legs/waist portions.

I like the legs, but still wanted a bit more oomph. So here's my second option with some parts from a matchbox ARV added. The turret will be mounted flush in a socket if I do this, and the neck will be shorter and socketed:

The advantage of the first option is that it will take much less time; the advantage of the second is everything else :)

Thoughts?

I really like option 2. How many of them are you planning on doing? If it is just one or two, option 2 is definitely worth it. If you need a lot of them, I can taking the cheaper / easier route.

Number 2 for all the right reasons.

Add a piece to the top with beveled edges so that the turret's neck is not showing like it is on the picture.

like both, do both, might steal that idea.

That is very frak'n clever and very frak'n nice looking.

Thanks,

Pat

the top pic looks good by itself, nice idea

Truly creative and a great kit bash. The second one appeals to me the most. It looks the role.

Dementation01 Aug 2014 10:43 p.m. PST

both are good ideas, but for obvious reasons number 2 looks the best to me too :)

Option 2. Well worth the extra time and effort. Very not-SW-ish. : )

Nice to read my rambling inspired you! ;-)

I agree that the first one looks too much like an APC with legs glued on… But the head of the second one looks a bit off to me (no offence meant, just giving you my gut feeling). Not sure what it is exactly, maybe the length of the head and neck in relation with the body.

Looking forward to see what you come up with!

I think #2 is the better of the two, though it needs a shorter neck.

If I was just going to put legs on an APC, I'd want something like the AT-TE or similar:

I'm having a hard time finding some of the other, really feline models I've seen like that. One was really great, actually looked kinda like bulldog. Tall shoulders, back sloping down to shorter rear legs, and head close to the ground.
