Hundvig Fezian is not a real big fan of pre-painted minis, and he positively despises randomly-packed "collectable" ones - so why is he writing this article?

"The Caspian Seamonster"

MajorB01 Aug 2014 11:33 a.m. PST

Tango01 usually posts about it every once in a while…

BTW it's not a "hovecraft", it's a WIGE (Wing in Ground Effect).

Seen it, have models of it.

I'm a long-time fan of wing-in-ground effect aircraft.

I like smaller WiGE (I really prefer the Russian term, ekranoplan) as the real 'flying tanks'. They might use a big blower to push air under the wings to speed takeoff, but once moving they're more like airplanes.

The Lun was such a great weapon platform, the Soviets built all of 1 and kept it in the Caspian Sea, where it was a threat to no one.

My favorite WiGE of all time is the (West) German Lippisch X-114 from 1977:

I'd buy a model of the X-114, any scale, in a heartbeat.
