Very nice work! \How did you find the Calpe figures mixing with Perry?
I also see the difference in Calpe guns compared to Perry.
At the moment I'm painting up some Calpe Prussian guns for our planned Ligny, Waterloo games.

These are some I painted awhile ago.
Bases are not finished.
Trying to get the Prussian blue guns looking right is tough.
What paint did you use?

Thanks!

PhattRatt: I do my bases like this:
1) I "paint" the base with wood glue, then submerge it in a cupboard with a mix of different sizes of gravel. Let dry overnight.
2) I paint that throughly with Terracota (Americana paints), then drybrush (it´s more a wetbrush in fact) with Beige. I use Americana paints for the bases, as you need a lot of that Terracota paint (mixed with a lot of water in order to spread well over the ground).
3) I paint some spots again with wood glue, and that serves to attach yellowish-green artificial grass.

wrgmr1:
I am mixing Perrys and Calpe figures with no problems. The later are chunkier, but some men are as well :-)
As for the guns, there is certainly a difference. As I use less than 4 artilerymen per gun, I need to buy spare guns and the Perrys won´t sell them, so I resorted to Calpe. But now I also plan to get more artillerymen from Calpe. I love having varied poses, so I won´t stop buying from both firms. As for the guns, may be the solution is not to mix them within the same battery.

Prussian guns color: I use Vallejo´s Prussian Blue as a base, and then drybrush with Vallejo´s light grey-blue (I don´t recall the exact denomination now).

Talking about guns: You have to check the new French guns from Calpe: I think they are even better than their Prussian guns (specifically the wheels).

I haven't seen the new French guns, I'll have to check. Westfalia miniatures do amazing French guns.
I have a friend in Winnipeg who is selling off his unpainted Calpe collection at 30% off. He has lots of guns and crew left.
He posted it on Bartertown recently. Or put your e-mail in phonetics in your next post and I'll forward his to you.

Prussian guns, I did a similar paint job, Vallejo Prussian blue base and highlight with Americana true blue.

Thanks for posting.
