First off: I was totally unaware of GotG until the movie came out. This might be a good thing 'cause I had no expectations, no background knowledge, nothing. I could watch the movie for what it was, no what I wanted it to be (see John Carter, Starship Troopers, James Bond, etc.).

Its a fun movie. Lots of action and a good bit of humor. Stan Lee makes his usual cameo and, since it is Marvel movie, you need to stick around for after the credits.

I may go back and see it again (which I haven't done since the original Star Wars).

I'd love to go see this tonight. However I think I will be too busy/need to go to bed early.

Its getting great reviews! Thanks for yours!

Oh, and please note(from the Credits):

No raccoons or tree creatures were harmed during the making of this film.

The Beast Rampant01 Aug 2014 7:28 a.m. PST

I'm off to see it tonight. Me mum's gonna watch the wee squog.

My wife saw the trailer for the first time and said: "Talking raccoon with a machine gun. Opening night, we're SO there."

I wasn't arguing with that!

Looks like rain this Tuesday so the Little Prince and I have plans to watch it then! Thanks for the review – I think we will like it

I saw it this morning. If you like superhero movies, you are going to LOVE GotG. I'm going to see it again which, like tberry, is something I almost never do. Tons of fun, tight script, good dialogue, great action, and tons of quotable lines and the easter eggs in the credits are way worth waiting for.

Just saw it! Outstanding! Rocket's sidekicks were okay too.

Rocket's sidekicks were okay too.

"Groot: he's been travelling recently as Rocket's personal houseplant slash muscle. "

THAT FREAKIN' ROCKED!!!

Dareaper hit the nail on the head!

See, THIS is why Marvel Studios is eating DC's lunch all day long. They're not trying to turn a comic book into James Bond, or some mopy-ass, grey-filtered crap that completely denatures the character.

Superman and Wonder Woman can be played by Carrot Top and Roseanne Barr for all I Bleeped texting care. On opening weekend for each of those turkeys, I'll be watching my Blu-Ray of GotG in my Rocket Raccoon Underoos!

Rocket did kind of steal the show didn't he although Drax was surprisingly good. Keep an eye on Dave Bautista, he seems to have some acting chops under all those muscles. evil grin

"Rocket did kind of steal the show didn't he"

Not as much as I was fearing he would. Very good balance of time between the characters, really.

DontFearDareaper Fezian02 Aug 2014 3:24 p.m. PST

I agree. They were all very, very good in their parts. The Gamora character had to play straight-man (woman) to the other 3 characters (ok Groot, four characters evil grin ) so they tended to get the best one-liners. But all were very enjoyable and worked great together as a team. Rocket was a bit of a standout but he and Starlord had the most one-liners and he had the advantage of some excellent CGI.

I just saw it. I thought it was excellent. I think it lived up to the hype and my expectations.

Coelacanth193805 Aug 2014 9:21 p.m. PST

The stuff they had Groot do was beyond good words to describe.
