Has anyone tried using Chain of Command for modern conflicts? I reckon the command dice system would work well in a more modern environment. Interested to see if I can avoid reinventing the wheel. |

Richard Clark will be debuting the Modern version of CoC soon. Stay Tuned!! |

As albelp01 said. But also check out the CoC forum: there's a thread there covering using it for Vietnam and lots of helpful, like minded gamers. |

Yep works really well indeed. Quite a few house rules around that really help. |

A Richard Clarke version of CoC Modern? That's the first I heard of it – really good news. Do we know anything about it besides that it's coming? I hope the rules tackle irregular forces (and asymmetric warfare), and allow for play from squad level to platoon level, not just at platoon level! |

I have my doubts about the last bit – the command and control mechanism for Chain Of Command rather breaks down if you try using squad sized forces – you really need multiple elements. |

I suppose you could have 'teams' of 2-3 soldiers but it gets pretty fiddly still. |

Yeah, I think you'd have to start using pairs and fireteams, but even then I think you may have insufficient units, and especially leaders, for it to really work. |

Well, but that's just a challenge the game faces – it can be overcome with good design. Where there's a will, there's a way. |
