That looks kike it was a lot of fun. I wish I had enough Elastolin figures to do something like this. |

That is a nice-looking collection. Put down a felt mat or old Army blanket next time, and your photos will look even more spectacular! Keep up the good work! |

@dBerczerk: Ah, but that is the conceit behind the "knights of the dinner table" game; no terrain except what happens to be left on the dinner table. In this special case, I made an effort (successfully) to keep all objects off the table before the first figure was placed thereon, thus we had a clear killing field, for the first time. Believe it, I find the glare extremely annoying while shooting pics and a blanket or other covering would be welcome from that aspect! But, I cannot break the tradition and turn this game into just another "war game" vis-à-vis actual modeled terrain considerations for greater realism. This is almost more of a "toy story" type setup and was from the getgo…. |

@nnascati: I know, I have never added it up. Xmas presents over several years spread out the cost until it was doable. And the trouble with Schleich is that they don't keep up the line. If you don't buy the figures when they are released you miss your chance. They seem reluctant to reissue earlier figures, and now concentrate on fantasy crap (of which our now-dead "emir" is an early example). I just checked on Amazon and "Sierra Toy Soldier Company", and there is practically nothing available, and the few on Amazon are priced out of sight. EBay is a wasteland of bits and pieces, mostly asking for the same prices (or more) as what they cost new back when we built up our armies…. |

GW Ace -- thank you for the explanation. It now makes sense. All too true / sad commentary about the fleeting opportunities we have to add to our collections! How many times I've been to a hobby shop, seen some figures or a kit I'd really like to have, but hesitated thinking "I've got so much to paint / build already -- I'll wait and get it on my next visit." I'd eagerly return to the store a month or two later, only to find they've gone "Out of Business." |
