…fighter plane. "Even before the Air Force's new F-35 "fifth-generation" fighter jet is combat-ready, the service is looking ahead to what comes next. At an Air Force Association breakfast Tuesday, Gen. Michael Hostage, the head of Air Combat Command, said studies are underway to come up with a concept for a sixth-generation fighter plane. The aircraft could be completely different than any of its predecessors, Hostage said at the meeting in Arlington, Virginia. "It isn't necessarily another single-seat fighter."…" Full article here link Amicalement Armand |

Pretty funny since the 5th-gen fighter doesn't work. |

Sounds about right, they started working on the successor to the F16 as soon as the first F16A/Bs were in service! Remember that it takes 20+ years to get a new aircraft from ground up, especially when you need to invent new materials to make the ideas/specifications work! |

On a related note, here's an article about the F-35: link I suspect they might want to spend time researching ultra-sophisticated, paper-airplane designs. On the plus side, it does make the very expensive, and much more capable, F-22 look almost economical by comparison. |

Since when did the trivial concerns of cost and economics ever enter into the equation for the MICC? It's their raison d'être to plan ahead isn't it? |
