Or tombs? Either for early humans, Atlanteans, Martians, or other alien civilization?

Being plastic, they should take paint well (as opposed to glass). I only wish there was some more rectangular but in similar sizes.

Dan,

You might not be able to "square" them up but if you were satisfied with round columns these would probably fill the bill.

If only these had a much, much rougher, stone-like surface texture …

They measure 20x6mm

Or these:

These last ones are "24x7mm Square Tubes"

Put sand and PVA in your paint when you paint them.

And it won't chip away easily?

Dan
spray paint them with the stone texture paint. It should work well!

I agree with the stone texture spray paint suggestion. Much better chance of sticking to the surface, and if the pieces aren't handled or stored roughly, should last.

Do you really consider Martians civilised? With their habit of practising ka'plagh during reeyoonith, and of sacrificing Hi'yaddi before any caroogerin? Utter barbarians, and I'm sure Kenneth Clark would have agreed with me.

If you put PVA in your paint and seal them afterwards, I have had no problem. I do this with structures and ground tiles.

Your initial "shake" of the figure will loose some grit, but once the stuff that didn't stick is gone, it should be OK.

The stone texture stuff is good, again, if you seal it. Otherwise, it wasn't designed for in game use handling. And it's expensive. A handful of dirt, sand, etc. is free.

Dan why not tray a PVA/?spackle?/paint mix if put on thinly it shouldn't mask to much detail and would give you the weathered look.

If I remember it rightly spackle is what the Americans call the stuff you use to fill cracks in walls, please correct me if wrong.

Hi Dan,
You can always try to soften them in boiling water & pressing them flat with flat metal strips. I think the best way to start is to press a square piece of metal into the round whole.
This is viable but would be work intensive. have you tried with blocks of plaster or limestone or Expanded polystyrene ?.

I suggest you search for model temples they have on show at museums.Whenever I see these, I always imagine how great they would look for gaming….
Try searching for Maltese Neolithic temples.
Or specific temples – Ggantija,Ta'Hagrat,Hypogeum,Hagar Qim, Mnajdra or Hal Saflieni aka Tarxien temples among others.Even the names themselves evoke imagination.

Hope this helps

I carved these these columns out of just plastic rods found at the hobby shop. And used Doll House plaster bricks for the bases, etc. … The bricks are easily carved and snap and break like real stone with a little muscle …

I used stone texture paint on these ruins … The Temple was a plastic cell phone box insert and the columns, etc. rectangular and hex doll house bricks –

This started out as a cell box insert too, with columns made from Super Glue tops and square doll house brick crowns … the front steps were also carved from doll house bricks. And a plethora of other odds & end were used on this Temple …

Decals are from Armorcast … The plant is from Charms I found at the craft store …
