link Of great potential interest but does anyone know the breakdown of components? I am especially concerned about over intricate running gear and gun barrel. I do hope the latter is not split in two lengthways. That was the bane of my 80s modelling (pre turned metal barrels) All the clean up and filling then sanding. Hopefully they will not be identical scaled down Italeri models. |

I do hope the latter is not split in two klengthways. That was the bane of my 80s modelling… All the clean up and filling then sanding. Just as an aside, if you have a variable speed power drill with removable bits, what I sometimes do with that sort of breakdown is to chuck the barrel into the drill and then use wet sandpaper down the length while giving it a good spin. Ensures sanding is even on all sides. It also helps IMHO to remove the locating pins completely, and then carefully glue the halves together. Not as convenient as a one-piece, but a lot cheaper than buying an aftermarket turned aluminum or brass barrel… Damon. |

That is true Damon. I have used that technique. I never understood the split barrel fixation. A case of making busy work for the modeller. |

Fine model but a bit limited for Bolt Action. |

I think all that changes with the tank supplement. Wall to wall Jagdtiger and Elefant platoons will be commonplace 😉 |

Nowadays you either want a slide molded single piece barrel or a metal one. |

That was the bane of my 80s modelling (pre turned metal barrels) All the clean up and filling then sanding. The barrel is a single piece. Italeri have used a clever sliding insert to the tool so the barrel and muzzle brake are both open and don't need drilling. The running gear is pretty simple. A main road wheels part, like the PSC tanks, a two-piece drive wheel, and upper and lower tracks. |

Excellent news! Thanks for the info! |

Fine model but a bit limited for Bolt Action. Limited in what way? I'm guessing they are getting all these new tanks out ready for the launch of the Bolt Action Tank War supplement. Then you can use platoons of 5 of them! |

Limited in what way? A Panther is 355 points give or take, even a1250 point game gets you only three. I guess it depends what the suggested armor battle points limit will be. |

Nice looking kit. I really dislike the warlord resin mk iv so I hope this plastic one is a big improvement. Hopefully you can build it without the skirts – but it's impossible to tell from the pics. |
Guinny | 01 Aug 2014 10:12 a.m. PST |
The skirts are completely separate, as are the brackets they sit on, so assembling it without should be easy. |

You think barrel split is bad. The new Revell 1/35 Nashorn has a whole externally mounted MG split lengthwise. No idea why. |
idontbelieveit | 03 Aug 2014 7:00 a.m. PST |
Well, the skirts are separate on the resin model, but there are large square hunks of resin on the hull where the brackets glue in that are pretty unsightly if you don't attach the skirts. Hopefully that won't be the case with the plastic kit…. |

Just play more points! The only problem will be getting all the allied tanks to oppose them. :) |
