Looking for suggestions of where i might find the strength of units at the Battle of Luethen. Looking for atleast brigade level, but would prefer regimental. |

The unit size given here are "averaged" in many cases, but however very representative of the size of the battalions/squadrons at the very end of the campaign season: link Moreover the Duffy commentary to the Clash of Arms board game of Leuthen gives a reasonable assessment of the real strength of both armies. The Osprey campaign book has battalion strength for all units. |

Christopher Duffy's excellent book, "Prussia's Glory: Rossbach & Leuthen 1757" gives some very realistic unit strengths for this very late battle in the 1757 campaign season. While the usual sources show the Austrians at full strength (I think Wikipedia shows them at 80,000), Duffy makes a strong case for how reduced in numbers they would have been at Leuthen. Though I could not find any specific parade state data on unit by unit strength. |
