I have been eyeballing the Dixon Western figures for a while, as they have some unique poses unavailable elsewhere. I was on the fence because they are billed as "large 25mm", and on the website they look a little wonky… i.e., a bit disproportionate and some questionable sculpting.
So I placed a small order to check them out. I am pleased to say that Dixon figures are pretty great! Lovely sculpting, perfectly in scale with Knuckleduster, Brigade Games and Artizan. And I ordered 3x of one figure, and every one I received has a different head! I quite literally could not be any happier with these guys.
I am really starting to notice two things while ordering minis… 1) paint almost always obscures the quality of the figure. And 2) I am increasingly noticing an almost fisheye-like distortion in the photography of miniatures. I do not know if it is an effect caused by using a fixed lens to do macro photography, or if it is caused by the way digital sensors record as opposed to the way light hits film. In any case, it is annoying.
But, all that aside, thank you Dixon! I will be ordering much more very soon!

I have quite a few figures from this line purchased years ago and I like them a lot. Lots of personality and the details stand out.

You can build up a very nice Wild Bunch or Long Riders gang just by ordering the figures in dusters, knowing the heads and faces will be unique, even if you order the same codes.
And the detail is crisp and easy to paint.
Love those figures.

JJ, thanks a comparison shot would be great. I have a lot of Knuckleduster guys already. I wouldn't mind if they were just a scooch bigger…Like 2/3 millimeter bigger. But if they end up in the modern 28mm size (which oddly, is about 32/35mm), I am man enough to admit that tears will be shed. I would not consider myself a scale nazi, but big size differences do dig at my very soul. My western town is so far populated with a few Dixon, Brigade, Artizan, Knuckeduster, and some civilians from Battleflag. And one guy from Blue Moon. I have a bunch more Blue Moon guys, but I just can't decide if they are too big or not. On the factory base they appear overwhelmingly big. I have cut all my painted guys from the molded bases and placed them on clear acrylic bases (because they might want to go indoors and standing at the bar in a pile of dirt and grass seems rude). The new basing made the size difference less visible… But I am still not sure.
I just realized my membership has lapsed, you can send me any comparison shot to: droidtag at yahoo dot com. Thank you! I really appreciate your offer… I feel it will help the violent little town called Malice grow!

I also have a few of these unpainted. Lovely figures. I have Custer, his brother and Lt. Cook (I think).

There are some Dixon v other manufacturers comparison photos here. Not their Western Range but may still be useful….

Agreed! I have a bunch of western and ACW figures ( even the Custer one) and have always loved collecting these and painting them. I love the detail and all of the various heads.

Sorry. I posted this query on another thread before I found this one. his one seems more appropriate to ask:

Anyone know of any US stockists for the Dixon Old West Line?
