Hi all,

I've updated ye old Blog with my review of the new plastic Pershing from Battlefront. It's safe to say I really liked this release.

I'm hoping to use the Super Pershing in an upcoming Tournament in a month.

Hi,

The divots you mentioned in your review are referred to by modelers as sinkmarks. This is cause by either overly thick parts (i.e. a mold efficiency issue), or insufficient pressure during the molding process. Basically it is plastic that has shrunk back from the mold after injection because there was insufficient pressure to keep the plastic "inflated" before it cooled.

I have to say, I was really looking forward to the BF Pershings, but this puts me off of them a bit. The location of these sinkmarks also makes repairing the defect difficult. It may have been a one-off however, but I may have to buy off of Ebay only if I can see the sprues if I decide to pick it up…

Damon.

I just did 2 boxes of them. One for my Yank ally and one for me.
None of them had the "divots" you mentioned, so it might be a production issue, easily corrected.

Naturally, I did ONE Super Pershing. We now have just as many on the club as existed in "real life", unless Tom and Mark decide they need one. Or two. grin
Here I did have some issues with the "elephant ears" and spring stabilizers. They were a tad awkward to put on, but so were they in "real life". grin

BTW, I must be improving in my third life as a platics modeler. I did not give ONE turret any glue//fingerprint zimmerite application!

Thanks for the review. My Pershing's are on my bench as I type this. They are awesome! Looks like if battlefront keeps this up PSC better look out

@ Garand yeah, the sink marks are rather unfortunate but they are really minimized once the tank is painted up and even less of an issue once you add some strategically placed stowage. Even with the divots I would still recommend the model.

@ John I bought 2 boxes as well, giving me the 5 platoon strong Pershing platoon and the 1 requisite Super Pershing.

Our gaming group here in AZ puts on the Shifting Sands event every year. It's our large campaign format tournament and is the biggest in the state. the next Shifting Sands will be a hypothetical East versus West late late war. With folks able to take T-44s, IS-3s and Su-101. Americans might be able to deploy more Pershings. Even the remaining Germans will be thrown into the mix.

It's still in the planning phase but looks to be exciting.
