Delbert Morris: A man of unique qualities among the "retired" citizens of Possum Corners. You see, Delbert, at the young age of 50 yrs. old, just up-and-retired one warm and humid summer day from working odd jobs for most of his life. He woke up one day, put on his Sunday-going-to church suit, walked to Zamboni's newspaper and magazine stand, threw a nickle down on the counter for the morning paper, opened it to the comics section, skimmed the comics, closed the paper, walked into Main Street, and hollered, "I done retired today and I'll never scrub an outhouse or spittoon again!!! Dadgum…I'm as free as bear in the woods!! Shee-oot!"
