"The more you tighten your grip, the more Star systems will slip through your fingers." Princess Leia Organa I know the Editor is a Star Wars fan, so I thought I'd use some language that he might appreciate. My point Bill, is that the draconian approach is just making things more difficult for you. All the people on Frothers who are attacking you came from disgruntled former TMPers who had their accounts locked, and all the people you are locking away now are just going over there and finding more to fling back your way. The more you tighten your grip, the more sock-puppets will slip back onto TMP and make things even worse. And all this deleting of links? Well, it isn't doing you any favours either. It just looks suspicious and people are too smart to not find the info anyway.
I don't write this as an attack, but as a useful bit of advice. To be completely honest I don't think that you are guilty of what these people are saying about you, but your actions…..you know…..theyr'e not helping. You should listen to people like the Bandit, he's a smart guy. |

Editor in Chief Bill | 29 Jul 2014 7:04 a.m. PST |
There really aren't that many people getting locked, are there? To a significant degree, it's the same people over and over. As for deleting links to a Frothers topic that I find reprehensible, that only seems common sense. |
TelesticWarrior | 29 Jul 2014 7:09 a.m. PST |
As for deleting links to a Frothers topic that I find reprehensible, that only seems common sense. No, it is the opposite of common sense. It is making people suspicious, and they are then searching for the info themselves and finding some concerning things. It's counter-productive and it looks weak. If the links are reprehensible, you should have enough trust in your own members that they are intelligent enough to know for themselves that it is reprehensible. Or are you some kind of Paternalistic Overlord now that you have to do all the thinking for your members? |

Telestic Warrior, I've been here for about 11 years. Never had a problem where Bill is concerned. His private life is NOT any of my business, nor is what he does with the revenue generated by my membership. It is sad that some folks just can't seem to have a life without besmirching others – without cause ! |

Saved that one. "Emperor Bill" doesn't need advice. Defending himself is something I am sure he's very familiar with by now…. |

Very well said Ed, if we all followed your example we would spend our time talking about miniatures and gaming. Egad! |

Ed Mohrmann, Never had a problem where Bill is concerned. His private life is NOT any of my business, nor is what he does with the revenue generated by my membership. I'm not interested in his personal life or how he spends the membership money, none of my questions are about that. My questions are about his conduct on TMP and how it is impacting the site and the community. It would seem that the general use of TMP Talk *is* to discuss those things. If it was permissible to have a billion threads arguing about Tango then it should be perfectly acceptable to try and address with Bill how the place (and him) have been different the last week or so. Oh, and TW didn't say anything critical of Bill's personal life or how revenue is spent, he said how he (TW) felt all this controversy lately was harming TMP. That'd be rather on-topic in TMP Talk. Texas Jack, Very well said Ed, if we all followed your example we would spend our time talking about miniatures and gaming. Egad! Sure, which is what the rest of TMP is for, this board is specifically to talk to Bill about how the place is run, raise concerns, ask for features, discuss trends, etc… No one is cross posting to the gaming boards… Cheers, The Bandit |

So now we know why some people say the new editors all look the same. They are CLONES! And we can all blame Jar-Jar for giving Bill these additional powers. |

Bandit | 29 Jul 2014 2:19 p.m. PST |
Texas Jack, Bandit, you are the last person who should be discussing anyone´s behavior. OK, I'll bite, tell me what I'm doing that is against the forum rules and tell me what I've posted in TMP Talk during any of this controversy that is inappropriate. But be specific because if you say I did something I'm going to challenge you to quote it. Cheers, The Bandit |
Texas Jack | 29 Jul 2014 2:26 p.m. PST |
Did I say anything about you breaking forum rules? Your behavior is not against forum rules, but appears you do not understand some things are simply not your business, and that the editor does not owe you, or anyone else here, an explanation for anything. I think you should see Dom´s post above and take it to heart. As for TW, talk is cheap. He said he was leaving and continues to post. Michael did it with much more panache. |
Editor in Chief Bill | 29 Jul 2014 2:34 p.m. PST |
Its not the revelations, its the dishonesty about them. There has been no dishonesty. |
Bandit | 29 Jul 2014 3:26 p.m. PST |
Texas Jack, Your behavior is not against forum rules, but appears you do not understand some things are simply not your business, and that the editor does not owe you, or anyone else here, an explanation for anything. Bill chose to bring it up here on TMP, he talked about it here in various threads including threads he created for multiple days before I posted anything about any of it. My first communication with him was a couple PMs followed by a public post all of which cautioned him not to address this controversy further. Then he started banning people, accusing people of being Frothers when they ask question (aka bad evil people who do mean things – that is how they are being described by Bill and others, as "filth") and then saying everything he does is justified. I haven't demanded Bill address the Frothers controversy, I've told him that if he is going to *choose* to defend his actions by saying, "someone attacked us," that people are gonna want to see the attack. I you *choose* a justification defense, then ya have to show the justification. Bill chose to address this and Bill chose to say what he's done is justified. When asked for the justification, Bill is vague or chooses not to answer. OK – but then I don't know how anyone can respect his position that he is justified. My questions and criticisms have been about how Bill is running the TMP forums. That is why the TMP Talk board exists, to communicate publicly with TMP's owner about concerns regarding TMP. Bill, There has been no dishonesty. You opened all of this up to questions by raising the topic multiple times and participating in a host of threads about it, but when people ask you things you've ducked a lot of questions, some get vague answers, many are completely ignored. No matter your intent, that is making people feel like you are acting dishonestly. You set the bar this high. Cheers, The Bandit |

…but when people ask you things you've ducked a lot of questions, some get vague answers, many are completely ignored. No matter your intent, that is making people feel like you are acting dishonestly. I think you confuse "ducking" a question with the right not to answer a question, particularly when a staff member's privacy is in question. I don't think I've ignored many questions, as my frequent replies show. However, let's not beat about the bush: ask your question. |
Robert Kennedy | 29 Jul 2014 3:58 p.m. PST |
Kinda sad that I miss all the threads about Tango,Stifles and Ignores. At least those people can let it go for the most partand they weren't on some kind of self-righteous crusade like some part of our fellow "members" here. |
Sergeant Paper | 29 Jul 2014 4:12 p.m. PST |
And here's a warning for those of you beating the drum on this and other threads, just because you don't like Bill's answer is no reason to keep asking the same things again and again hoping for another answer. From the FAQ: What if I don't like the way you moderate the site, and I keep bringing the issue up over and over again? In a few exceptional cases, I have Locked the accounts of people who were persistent moaners or complainers. Constructive criticism is one thing, but continued whining just gets annoying. |
Robert Kennedy | 29 Jul 2014 4:15 p.m. PST |
I think that its way beyond that now SP LOL. |
Bandit | 29 Jul 2014 4:48 p.m. PST |
OK Bill, First question: You said a Frother is someone who self-identifies as a Frother or someone who frequents the Frothers website: A Frother is someone who self-identifies as a Frother. And certainly those who are "regulars" at the website. I have no association with the Frothers website. You've been calling all sorts of people Frothers and associating people with the Frothers for a week, all the while calling Frothers lots of derogatory things, like this latest one: What bothered me is that he [Angel Barracks] would participate in that vile, reprehensible topic, with slimeballs who have relentlessly targeted and abused everyone who works at TMP. [emphasis mine] And now you are doing it to me: Or maybe he's [The Bandit] trying to prove the Frothers theory that there's some strange conspiracy and the editors don't actually work. It is no different than name calling to say a Frother is a filthy slimeball and then associate TMP members with the Frothers. I don't know why you dislike my questions or my posts but I have not offered that level of disrespect to you, why are you doing it to me among many other users? Cheers, The Bandit |
Editor in Chief Bill | 29 Jul 2014 4:56 p.m. PST |
…why are you doing it to me among many other users? It is not a level of disrespect, it is simply one of several theories about why you are asking questions which seem rather creepy. |

Bandit | 29 Jul 2014 5:03 p.m. PST |
Bill, please answer what I asked, you say the Frothers are bad, I have no association with them, why are you linking me to them because I asked how long it takes to teach someone (anyone) to post hobby news? I don't care who the editors are, I'm confused by the number only because I can't understand the workload, so I'm asking about the workload. Cheers, The Bandit |
Editor in Chief Bill | 29 Jul 2014 5:22 p.m. PST |
…why are you linking me to them… Because both of you have questions about their workload. It may just be coincidental. |
