Warzone Resurrection's failure is that they've chosen to, for the current time, at least; to go direct sales only. Although I can see that it's likely not feasible to attempt mass market distribution, this situation leads to almost non existent presence in the hobby place.
We had two players playing the game upon receiving some of their KS packages, and they've already stopped playing it. Any ideas what Prodos can do to get the word out? Maybe look for actual business financing to afford a better plan of action?

Well I find $4.40 USD for one figure expensive. They should have gone plastic and cheaper figures and not resin models. Also it looks like they 32mm which are IRC bigger then the past versions. Also the rules are card based correct? And the rulebook is $57. USD I think they were trying to compete with GW and Privateer based on the prices and types of models. Plus I agree there is hardly any knowledge/advertising about this version of Warzone.

Many people got burned by one of the previous incarnations and it's probably past time to say enough's enough. I imagine only the die-hards got excited by this re-boot and making the models a different size was the final kiss of death. Tebo's points are well made as well.

I agree that the direct sales approach pretty much put the nail in this coffin, because it limits exposure and accessibility. Back in its heyday when WZ was released by Target Games AB of Sweden back in the 90's, they were prevalent in gaming stores and very popular. I had Capital, Bauhaus and Imperial armies and I played WZ (or its fantasy counterpart Chronopia) almost every week.

I've been looking forward to Prodos's upcoming Aliens and Colonial Marines game, but now I'm less sure about it.

My excitement for this newest version has been nearly completely exhausted by their issues in getting product to the Kickstarter backers. I'm still awaiting the rest of my order and my most recent order status e-mail has been ignored. Yet somehow people seem to be quickly receiving orders placed to their web store.

Hi, I bought the rules pdf. It was 1 dollar. The figures are certainly NOT larger than the previous version. In fact, some are actually a tad bit smaller. I applaud Prodos for bringing Warzone back to life. The previous owner badly mismanaged things. I believe the direct sales option may have been the only way to make it happen via a Kickstarter.

Pricing per figure is not cheap. That is for the buyer to decide upon. Personally, I own every army they ever made in past editions so have no problem using my current figs.

I would love to see someone local run a game so I could get a handle on it. I think once all the army lists are completed things on that front should progress.

I wish deliveries would have been quicker. But like most KS it is something of a learning prospect despite the best intentions. I read about it all the time for a multitude of other KS so am not surprised.

Bottom line is I'd rather have a new version of Warzone out via the route they have chosen than no Warzone at all. You make your choices and pay your money or not. Time will truly tell how well this works out. I wish them all the best!

Thanks,

John

I swear I saw someone from Prodos talking about possible US distribution. Maybe on Doom Trooper Radio's Youtube channel?

The outdated art style is also an issue.

But yes, I was one of the people completely burned by the previous or 2 editions ago when they compiled everything into 1 rulebook and made a plastic starter box.

Only problem was, that combined book as actually missing entire pages of rules, and what rules that were there were slow and not well put together.

Had some nice ideas though.

I'm also really, really over the giant shoulder pad look.

I hear you Turtle. grin I really fell in love with the fluff from the Warzone Universe. It is incredibly interesting. I started with 1st edition. It has been the ONLY scifi system w/an official figure range that I have ever dove fully into. I happily paid retail for my armies. I have never, ever done that before or since.

A US distributor would be great. I want to buy stuff and play the game!

Mako1129 Jul 2014 5:54 p.m. PST

Can't say I know much about them, but with resin figs at that price point, I won't be purchasing/researching them either.

Capt Flash29 Jul 2014 7:54 p.m. PST

Agreed. I wanted to support the KS but as soon as resin figures were mentioned, I was finished.
@teboj17- if you're ever up for a game of 1st edition, I have a couple hundred figures available and can host a game or run it at the Time Machine.
