Hello! I'm fairly new to the forums and finding it a struggle to figure out what's acceptable when talking about your own products. Obviously I'd like to promote my company whenever I can/is relevant but I don't want to break any rules. Am I allowed to post threads regarding news, of course not spamming or posting "not real news" I've emailed about becoming a "sponsoring member" but heard nothing back. An example is, I'll have some pretty cool news and new products in the next few weeks, and I'd love to post a link to share. I produce dice bags, so I looked in the dice section and there are plenty of threads about new dice bag products, but all posted from one [seemingly] neutral chap, so I'm still none the wiser. Any help appreciated, as I don't want to step on any toes or rub people up the wrong way! Cheers Annie The Dice Bag Lady |

Hi Annie, Just check out the site's FAQ: TMP link TMP link TMP link Also much of what you want to do is advertising. That is allowed to some degree but you're better off contacting Editor Bill and becoming an advertiser. If you do that then Bill will post adverts for you on the site's banners and he'll announce you on the masthead (the part that loads first). He can link to your site and so on. Not a bad deal really. So welcome to TMP! |

If you purchase advertising banners on TMP, Bill will run 'news articles' on your business; without the paid banner, no 'news items', such as new releases. Not passing judgement, just sharing the facts. Cheers! |

Cheers, I followed the instructions for being an advertiser and emailed a banner, I guess he's just busy! The guy posting a lot of forum news about dice bags was Tango01, is that his "job" or does he just like sharing news? I'm here to contribute and chat wargaming as well, I would have joined years ago but I've no idea why – for some reason I'd always assumed you had to pay to post, d'oh! So also, hi! |

DBL, this is one of those cases when you are walking in on the middle of a complicated conversation -- or maybe a big debate. (And welcome, by the way!) Tango is somewhat controversial as he posts MANY news items; some TMPers appreciate that and others think he overdoes it. And the Editor is especially busy right now; you can check the TMP Talk board if you want to see why, or not (if you value your time or your sanity). The company my son runs, Splintered Light Miniatures, is an advertiser, and we think it is a very good deal. But the editor may take several days to respond to a request or question. Again, welcome! |

Hey, I see why he's busy now… I'm in no rush, was slightly worried I had the wrong email or something that's all. Banner deal definitely looks worthwhile. Just little bits I can't seem to find answers to in the FAQ, such as some people sign off with a link to their site after a post, is that ok, or just ok for advertising members..or cheeky? Or does nobody really know and the general rule is to not be a prick? Cheers! :D |

Probably more the latter. You can manually add a signature but the majority do not. Noone will be upset if you start a thread about your own products, just don't start 50 of them :) |

If you are an advertiser = supporting member, that will show up beside your name. So anyone interested will know that you have a gaming-related business. Be sure and tell everyone about that in your member profile, which they will see if they click on your name. There's also a sponsors forum where the advertisers share things. |

It seems that many of the Supporting Members also post their news to relevant threads as a back up, since Hobby News items sometimes take a while to hit the front page, and sometimes disappear quickly from the front page. That appears to be acceptable. |

I always feel kinda guilty doing that but noones complained to me, so I think as long as you don't spam it too hard, you're fine. |

David typically starts a thread about a new product at about the same time he sends in a news item saying the same thing. Sometimes the message is up a day or two before the news item appears, sometimes they are both up pretty much together. Nobody seems to mind, as far as I know. Redundancy is essential to communication. You need to say it again for some people to get it. Message: TMP link 23 Jul 2014 3:59 p.m. PST and includes a link to our blog News: TMP link 25 July
As you see, the product info is identical, but the "look" is a bit different and both items elicited good comments. |

I think if someone inquire about something related to your product and you come out of nowhere to give the link to your online shop or something, it would be ok actually. We always appreciate alternatives. |
