Happens quite often, especially when I play with Roger. |

Usually yes, unless it was part of their victory conditions |

Not on the gaming table. I mean, I would do it for them too :) |

The innuendo is strong in this one. |

Not in a game. I love "screw your buddy" games. |

I'll never shoot a team mate. But if we're just on the same side. Then alliances can be broken. |

Seems a bit unsporting Not the sort of thing a proper gentleman would do Mind you, its not like I game with proper gentlemen! |
OSchmidt | 28 Jul 2014 10:36 a.m. PST |
Dear John Yes. But few do it. The years of retribution they go through usually discourage them. |
Winston Smith | 28 Jul 2014 10:40 a.m. PST |
Roger is not what one would call a "proper gentleman ". |

My son often complains of this…… serves him right for playing Left for Dead with me. |

Sounds like a scene from a bad zombie movie where there are 2 with the zombies closing in and one shoots the other wounding them so they can escape. Just play a game of Junta and make Roger El Presidente to get even. |
Dynaman8789 | 28 Jul 2014 11:10 a.m. PST |
That was not a bad zombie movie, it was a GOOD zombie show – walking dead. As for the topic, all I can say is "A kind word and a knife in the back will get you more then just a kind word" (Forget the original source but it isn't me – but he does have a knife in the back…) |

You do not have to be the fastest runner in your group. Just the second slowest. |

The innuendo is strong in this one. Indeed – we should applaud the self-restraint that's on show. Doug |

I stabbed my friend in the back in a 7tv game at HCon, but he WAS on the other team, so I think it was okay. And if we'd both been baddies, and he stood between me and victory, I'd definitely stab a chum… less likely when i'm supposed to be good. |
Parzival | 28 Jul 2014 3:15 p.m. PST |
Considering the number of times it has happened, and the fact that we're all still friends, I guess not. Heck, I've been stabbed in the back* by my mother-in-law, and I still love her! *Technically, "eaten by a shark" in games of Survive!, but it's the same principle.** **But I got her back by siccing a sea serpent on her boat. |

If I'm running a psycho is Borderlands 2, I appreciate it. |

Happens all the time, I do it too. Nothing personal. The chain saws and Molotovs seem to catch their share of friendlies too. |

In the real world, even when we are working together, there are always resource limitations. So we are always competing over something … even if it is "I know I can go a better job at this, so I really need to get the resource in order to provide the best benefit to mankind". Altruism does not necessarily negate competitiveness. One part of some situations, however, is escape from some of the confines of the real world. In a game is probably the one real place where we can truly and freely collaborate. In other situations, however … game on! |
Porthos | 29 Jul 2014 4:07 a.m. PST |
Yes. Definitely. ME shooting HIM in the back, however, is a very different kettle of fish. (;-)). |
langobard | 29 Jul 2014 4:49 a.m. PST |
Alternately, does the fact that none of my friends have managed to do this to me, mean I have no friends? Or have I just got them, before they got me? |

The game Diplomacy pretty much requires it. |
