I dug out my old 40K Tyranids as we're going to play 2nd edition again in our group. Here's a small gallery…I have a few…never enough! LOL

Yeah, there's no such thing as "too many Tyranids." :)

Great collection! These are still my favourite Nid models.

I really liked the old carnifex. It was probably one of my favourite models back then and one of the first tyranids I got that was not plastic.

The old plastic warriors I think were the best version of them. The metals they released to supplement them I didn't think looked very good. They were a little goofy looking. But the spindly appearance of those plastics was great.

Me too. The model has so much character and is quite 'nightmarish.' It was called the 'Screamer Killer' back then before GW started naming Tyranid creatures after ancient Roman titles.

Love seeing all these great old minis takes me back to playing 40k a long time ago, thanks for the eye candy :-)

Dang…looks like the army I have collecting dust in the closet. Just not painted as well. Remember under 2nd Ed rules that Genestealers could rip apart land raiders and hoards of gaunts could over run marine squads. Lots of Starship Trooper bug lists back then.

Thanks! It was a blast to paint. I picked up some of the later edition plastics. They don't have the character of my earlier miniatures. They all look like rip-offs from "Alien" movies.

I don't know, I like the old ones better but I also like the new ones.

Great thread. 2nd edition 'nids were my first 40k army – one that I surprised everyone and actually played 100% painted.

Good ol' 2nd edition – so many awesomely broken things. I remember killing all my eldar opponents psychics with one psychic scream from my Tyrant on Turn 1. Lol. Genestealers were fabulous for ripping the tracks off of any tank and watching it flip over and explode.
