The one on the left is very simple to do and the one on the right has more work as it has glueing, painting, washing and drybrushing but I think the contrast with the figure is better.
What do you think? Is it worth the effort on the second base or should I go for the first option?

You probably notice the lesser contrast on the left figure because he's not wearing blue trousers. I vote left too |

Paint the four vertical sides of each base in either khaki, flat black, Russian green, or Goblin Green paint. Then decide. |

Funny everybody says the left one as I think the right one is better :)
I think I'll do what dBerczerk suggests and then decide.

I'd mix them too. Perhaps you could distinguish one unit from another based on the flock style? |

I like the right one best.
But since one has more work than the other – doesn't it also come down to how many bases you've got to do in the first place? |
