When I was a kid in the 60s I remember watching a movie on TV one night and I am trying to figure out the name of the movie. This is very vague but it is all I can remember:
The movie took place in an Asian country (partly takes place in the jungle) that seemed to be undergoing some kind of rebellion/communist insurgency/political turmoil, and I seem to recall that it was under British rule (there were some white actors in it). That could mean Malaysia, or maybe India? The plot was that one of the leaders (seems like it was a woman but not sure) had been captured and was due to be hung in a certain period of time (like 1 week) unless another insurgent leader turned themselves in. The other insurgent leader had a white female as a hostage, maybe the white female had gone into the jungle to negotiate or something like that. I don't recall any fighting, maybe someone got shot toward the end but no big battles. And I can't remember how it ended, I think the white female was freed but they hung the imprisoned rebel leader anyway.
I know that is extremely vague but any help would be greatly appreciated, I have been searching for a while with no luck.

Maybe 'Outpost in Malaya", set on a rubber plantation during the Emergency, Jack Hawkins was in it as I recall. Could be "Bohwani Junction", "Dark of the Sun" or even "Something of Value".

Thanks everyone for their help, ubique1 has it – thank you very much, that has been bugging me for years! I will have to try to track that movie down somehow and watch it again:
