In 15/18mm, what manufacturer would be suggested for a Junta Army? Does anybody make Junta cavalry, or gunners?

I guess we need to start with common terminology. Are you referring to junta forces in Spain, or in South America?

Cerdic26 Jul 2014 7:53 a.m. PST

Were there not several Juntas in Spain for a while?

WOW! I guess one can make my request complicated if one wanted to. This is a NAPOLEONIC page, so I thought it dealt with all things related to Napoleon(79thPA, and Cedric). Thanks Saber6.

Yes, it is a NAPOLEONIC page, which means that it covers actions during the Napoleonic Wars, which includes the juntas in Mexico and South America. Since your post did not specify which junta of the Napoleonic Wars you were interested in, a little clarity was in order. Don't worry though, you won't hear from me again.

Battlehonors by 19th Century also makes Militia/Guerilla troops of Spain.

You might look at the Fantassin of Spain range of troops. Some of the most variety in castingsfor Spain.

I thought you were talking about an army to use playing Junta set back in the Napoleonic period.

Cerdic27 Jul 2014 2:40 a.m. PST

There were various regional Juntas in Spain set up after the Napoleonic invasion. They each raised their own forces, wearing all sorts of different uniforms.

This obviously influences which figures to recommend to better represent the troops you wish to model!

The uniforms worn by Spanish troops in the Peninsular War are hard to determine for a lot of the period, due to the changing political situation. Not to mention the problems of poor supply, military defeats etc….

Thanks RudyNelson and Cerdic.

Is there a particular army or Junta you wish to model? Quite often there are figures that will work in different ranges:

So, militia in the AB range: link

Some of the infantry from Fantassin, EN 16 – 28 in particular have suitable figures link

Hope that is a useful start.

Hi Reggie,
Depending on the year you want to model you have a lot to choose from. As mentioned before by others, Juntas were regional governments, and don't as such translate to a particular army or uniform. For the early to mid war you are pretty safe in doing a lot of brown uniforms from local cloth, some units in red, white or grey british-supplied uniforms, and small local e.g. urban or university militia units in fancy uniforms of almost any cut and colour (blue coat and tarleton helmet for example is perfectly OK).

I am doing the early war in 15 mm, and some of the articles on our club site might be of use.
