I recently bought Axis and Allies WW1 board game. I am very familiar with the original A&A so noticed immediately that the game didn't come with any International Production Certificates and the rules tell you to keep a track on paper. Does anyone know where I could buy something similar to the original IPCs? Plastic coins spring to mind in denominations of 1, 2, 5, 10 etc. Does anyone use similar methods of keeping track of your spending?

Go to The Dollar Tree or a like place; they sell plastic coins and fake paper money. You could also use plastic poker chips.

If you have the original Axis and Allies, why not use the Monopoly money from that game. Or for that matter, use the money from any game.

I've played three games of Axis & Allies 1914. My friends and I are familiar with previous A&A editions (all being World War II, of course.) We too have been disappointed with the lack of a few physical components, like paper money in later editions, including the 1914 game. In our opinion, paper money makes our games more manageable. So we've had to improvise in ways like those suggested by 79thPA and Leadpusher.

This isn't the only company that sells A&A pieces, but you might find this link to be of interest:

To fuss just a wee bit more, the 1914 game could have used a few more infantry and artillery pieces, more chips, and a separate IPC board (we don't care for the one printed on the map, on top of the Sahara Desert.) But by going to a little extra trouble and expense, these things can be fixed.

By the way, A&A 1914 is fun to play.

We use poker chips, even for WW2. We find it easier.

I love 1914. I like to play as the underdogs, so it was a thrill to play as the Central Powers, and to think up strategies to win. Finally beat my dad by doing a "Reverse Schliefflin," and holding my ground on the Western Front, letting the French wear themselves out on my defenses, and push the Russian Front while the Austrians push the Italian Front. Also helped that I destroyed the British Home Fleet and controlled their ability to land troops to support the French. Even with my troops holding Moscow and just outside of Rome, my dad was convinced that the incoming Americans would be able to steam roll all the way across German initial territory, and win the game. When I explained to him that he was on the ropes, and that I wasn't worried about him taking Germany, he threw in the towel and called it a "tie." But I did get "I had no idea what you were doing, and it threw me off. But it really worked well for you, not attacking on the Western Front," from him after we had cleared away the board. With that bit of bragging out of the way, the lack of IPCs was one of the first things I noticed, as well as the lack of a real IPC board. Remedying those was one of the first things I did. I took the money from our original A&A, and printed off the chart from another A&A game with whited out places for the original markers and I inserted my own. Pretty easy to do, to be honest.

Thanks for the replies guys, I have found a PDF on BGG for sheets of IPCs so I will print those out. Now, I'm looking forward to playing WW1 A&A!

I play lots of board games, most people don't like paper money . so we use poker chips for many games.
