Is anyone aware of where I could source some non-European ships in 1/450 scale. I am looking for 16th-17th century vessels, either a collection of Caribbean(esque) canoes with native crews, a Chinese junk or Arabic dhow. Cheers! Nic |

Do they have to be 1/450? Grumpy does 1/300 versions of most of what you are looking for. They are quite small models. link (this gives dimensions) or link |

Hello Nic There are some row boats and crew figs that might be useful un the Peter Pig 1/450th pirate ship range. Good scale choice!! martin

I needed a load of these to accompany my 1/450 Peter Pig ships, alas I can't remember just now where they came from (the name Falcon tends to spring to mind), but I managed to track down some dhows and junks, and I used Irregular Miniatures 1/300 boats to represent bigger gunboats. Martin, please do some more ships in 1/450! A schooner and a galley would be particularly useful |

Swampster – snap – I had just dropped Nic at Eureka an email to see whether the Grumpy junk had fixed or separate crew. If separate, then that will do nicely. Martin Goddard – double snap – earlier today I dropped you an email asking about your row boats. The reason I want 1/450 is that I plan on using Peter Pig ships for my forthcoming naval game. David Manley – Peter Pig do indeed have a schooner already, although I agree a galley would be nice, as would some native canoes….. |

The junk has a single fixed crewman. He would be easily removed. |

HHesq – yes he does, but the foremast is square rigged, whereas a more useful version would have fore and aft sails on both masts (I've converted a few thanks to Martin selling me some extra F&A rigged masts) |

Would some of the pirateology ships work? They made(make) a junk. |

I don't know. I saw a reference to them somewhere else and tried to google/ebay them and found nothing that looked the right sort of thing. Are they hard plastic or soft plastic? |

The galleys from the 1/600 Skytrex Armada range are a bit oversize and should work as 1/450 galleys. And if you want to play earlier periods, the larger Skytrex 1/600 Armada range ships can mix with the Peter Pig 1/450 Pirate Ships on the same table without destroying suspension of disbelief. - Ix |
