So I've recently arrived at a somewhat sad conclusion. While I'm now successful enough to generally afford what I want in terms of miniatures (within reason), I no longer have enough free time to prep and paint these miniatures as quickly as I'd like. This is exacerbated by the fact that I'm a slow and mediocre painter to begin with. So I'm thinking for that for the next 'big' project I undertake I might be looking at a painting service. I'm looking for info on people's experiences with painting services, recommended services, etc. Any and all advice greatly appreciated. Not that I do *not* have a project on the front burner, so I don't need immediate estimates. This is just something I'm considering :) -Will |

Ah, yes, that would be important information. I'm based in the USA, and would prefer one there, simply due to postal costs. -Will |

Well There is Flat rate shipping. The only problem is that there has been rejections from the USPS because they can't xray all that lead lol |

I prefer to paint all of my own figures, but found myself in the same situation, and had a lot of figures that I wanted to play with, but just didn't have the time to paint. Not sure where you are at in the US, but I went with Pictor Studios. They are at the HMGS East cons, always have great looking items out, and Scott & Jamie are always friendly. They made it very easy. I just dropped them off at one con, and picked them up at the next. They did a couple of companies of 15mm WWII Marines for Battlefront for me. Took some pics of what I was looking for, they came back looking great, and based very well. I'm sure wherever you are at they can get them to you in great shape. |

I have used Evil Bob (I have several thousand Vikings and Saxons almost ready to send him); Pictors (they did some very nice NVA and US Marines in 15mm); Fenando and Philgreg in Asia, as well as various others. Even with postage going to Asia can be much cheaper if you're doing bulk. Say, 100 French infantry. But if you;re doing 100 characters where each is different, the savings are less. |
