I would recommend "The Cousins Wars" which I am currently reading and "The Unknown American Revolution". |

An interesting collection, though with two each by Ellis and McCullough, when there's lots of other fine writers. A bit PC with women; Abigail and John are worth reading but only a bit of it is during the Revolution, however broadly one defines it. But a good starting list, anyway. |

Looks like a civilian list- No with Zeal and Bayonets only? |

I would substitute Fischer's Washington's Crossing for 1776. Oh heck, add his Paul Reveres' Ride. Since we are doing novels, I would add anything by Howard Fast, especially April Morning. But, seriously, I could come up with 15 and not break a sweat, only duplicating Oliver Wiswell. Ben Franklin's SISTER? Really? |

I'd say it is as much or more about the political and social aspects of the American Revolution as it is about the war itself. If that is the case there should also be something on the economic and legal aspects as well. |

Didn't Ellis get in trouble with one of his books as to his overall integrity a few years back? Little on the War of the Revolution which is shame. Nothing on the armies either, including arms and ammunition, which is a real shame. It is a sad truth, however, that military history is not favorably viewed by too many so-called historians and authors. B |
