Just wanted to give a heads up on a new X-wing terrain project on kickstarter. Scaling and detail is quite good on this one.

The project lead Zprops is mainly known for making props from Mass Effect and Team Fortress 2, but this is his first foray into miniatures gaming.

Talk about reinventing the wheel. You could buy the same thing for less from Combat Wombat and not take your chances on a Kickstarter:

Who would back this? People who don't know CW exists? Anyone could fix that in short order just by backing for a dollar and posting links to Wombat's store in the KS updates and comments every few days.

And Combat Wombat even makes a trench section…

Thanks for the props guys. I hope they do well. Not sure why these mass producing guys are charging so much. I make a good profit and mine are half the cost. Good luck to them.

@Chief Lackey Rich This project has my name and even my personal facebook on it. A minimal amount of research (ie one quick google search) Yields quite a bit of internet presence and professional work. More than Combat Wombat (Don't take this the wrong way Scotty, what you're doing is great) So when it comes to risk, its your job to do a little research. Mine also includes shipping/materials, etc. and dare I say some high quality work. Not that I'd expect you to know the difference.

@lion in the stars

clearly you didn't read the kickstarter…

@Combat Wombat

I honestly haven't figured out how you got your price so low. I'm using Smooth cast 300 which is one of the cheaper resins out there but still produces very high quality casts. a gallon kit is 15 lbs of resin shipped to my door for $98. USD It produces 9.375 tiles. The cost per tile is $10.45 USD alone. Just for resin, no silicone, mold release, brushes, respirators, gloves, mixing sticks, etc etc.

Don't take what I've said earlier the wrong way, I know you have a full time job and two kids and you're catering to the more affordable end of the market. I've put a lot of time into mine so that I can ask a little more. I totally respect what you're doing.

Keep in mind people, its still cheaper than the JRM version and its 100 times better. But feel free to bash away. Or better yet, make something better.

No offense taken. It took a long time to figure out my price point and still make some profit. Which just goes right back in to gaming! I figured you are a much bigger operation. I am a huge fan of kick starter and wish you all thr best. If you want I can give you some pointers to get you price point down. Email me at swadyko2000AT yahoo.com. In this hobby I'm all for the more the better. Ps you should at least use my new MK IV tower when you are comparing it to your stuff! ;)
