Ahoy! I desperately seek a miniature (25/28mm) that is based on a classic WC Fields cinema look (or can be painted as such) -- his appearance as Mr. Micawber in David Copperfield (in Dickensian garb) would be perfect, but anything else showing him in a period skimmer or the like would also be fine. I think there have been some figures modelled after Fields before but I can't remember exactly. Riverboat or saloon gamblers, maybe, from a Western range?

I have a Pulp game in mind that calls for W.C. Fields to play the villain. He's kidnapped Baby Leroy in a fit of insane, drunken jealousy and only Hollywood's finest heroes can take him down.

I'd be interested in knowing too, I've got the Marx Brothers, this would be a great addition.

But I'm thinking maybe a Churchill would work too? At least on general principles, probably not in terms of garb. CP Models has a Churchill that might work for the Bank Dick look.

I have to ask. Where did you get the Marx Brothers? I'd love to get them myself.

Redoubt has a figure in their civilians ACW pack that might work, he has the hat but you would have to "fatten" him up a bit. It sounds like a cool scenario, don't forget to put gin in with Baby Leroy's formula.

The "Carl LaFong" bit from "It's A Gift" is one of my favorites. Here it is on YouTube:

Foundry's old Wild West line had a number of characters in it, including the Marx Brothers. Since they're bringing back old lines it may be worth browsing their pages.

@ironicon – as FABET01 says, from Foundry (plus there's another Groucho in Copplestone's dino hunters pack). Unfortunately the three brothers are spread over three different packs:

A little off topic here, but a real long time ago when my granduncle Buddy Dubrock was running the Dubrock Riding Academy in Southern California, W.C. Fields used to be a regular at the "never-ending poker game" along with several other Hollywod celebrities.
The man knew how to cheat :)

Good ol' W.C. cracks me up! I don't mean to disparage him by making him a secret Pulp villain, but his fabled run-ins with Baby Leroy (and who doesn't love that name?) are too funny to ignore and suggest all sorts of gaming possibilities. I figure a judge will let him off lightly, given he can claim the bottle made him do it.

These Marx Bros. figures from Foundry and Copplestone are a hoot. I only have the Chico and Harpo Wild West figures myself, but Harpo makes a great town drunk painted up in dirty tatters and a red nose and I painted Chico in tie-dye and other bright colors and he plays the role of the Peyote Kid in my games.

Thanks for the Fields tips, I'll check these suggestions out. Churchill, that's a good idea. I'd never have thought of that.

Hello piper909

Strange to suggest but have a look at the VBCW Figure guide vbcwminisguide.blogspot.com.au . It collects all the Interwar, Western, colonial, Victorian, Pulp, etc available but there surely must be a figure there that you can use. Some of the Blue Moon Gang Land figures might be useful.

Handy for any Pulp enthusiast anyway :)

Cool! I have this Blue Moon set! Haven't painted them all yet -- and now that you point them out, I think that fat cigar-waving guy could make a great Fields by adding a skimmer. I think I could manage that. And he'd even be armed, a bonus! Thanks for the tip!

Wow! look at all those Tommy guns!…

I all else fails I'm sure one or other of the terrain/accessory manufacturers can provide a WC and fields.

He's here! Converted from the big fat guy with cigar in the Blue Moon set noted above. Filed down his head and made him a skimmer.

What if W.C. Fields went crazy one day, and in a fit of drunken rage kidnapped his cinematic nemesis Baby Leroy? He sends taunting ransom demands and threatens to fill Baby Leroy with gin and "spank him into next week." Only Hollywood's bravest heroes could find his lair, defeat his goons, and end his reign of madness!
