From what I've read it seems that units need to have the same number of bases (either 2 or 3) , regardless of the number of figures in the unit. So, for example, using the 3 base scheme a unit of 12 figures would have 3 bases of 4 figures each and a unit of 9 figures would have 3 bases of 3 figures each. Am I correct in thinking that the scheme of keeping the number of bases standard is just a way of keeping track of losses for morale purposes? (i.e. a new morale effect occurs for each 1/3 loss of unit strength)? I'm asking because it seems very impractical to maintain an inventory of 2 figure bases, 3 figure bases, 4 figure bases, etc. just to make it easier to keep track of the morale effect. Thanks. |

Spoke with John Hill about this at Hcon and he said it is fine to mix and match. You can have 3 stand Regiments and 2 stand Regiments in the same OOB. Just need to keep track of how many to start in the original Regiment for morale modifier when a stand is lost. Page 39 in the rule book details it. Extrapolating, you can even have a 4 stand Regiment. I have mainly 4 figures per stand. When I need a 10 figure Regiment, for example, I use three 4 figure stands and put caps on two figures. |

Thanks. Seems extra confusing to me instead of simply dictating the number of figures in a unit and then stating that the unit suffers a morale reduction for each 1/3 (or 1/2 or 1/4, whatever it is) loss in strength. |
