"Based off the the Sovereign Class's secondary hull The Hoplomachy Class is built for one purpose. War. After recent experiences with the Borg, The Dominion, The Cardassians and the Remans it was felt that the development of a purely military vessel was necessary. Based off already existing designs the Hoplomachy class can be quickly and easily produced…"

Yeah, the contractors say it can be quickly and easily produced, but wait until the cost overruns, the design changes demanded by politicians and the teething problems on the new tech kick in. Pretty soon the original order for 60 ships will be cut to 14, then 7 and the per unit cost will be astronomical. |

Yeah, but once they get through all those problems, they can just start replicating parts. I wonder why they showed house sized replicators in the movies? Power requirements too high? |

'Recalcitrant' would be a perfectly suitable name for a Battleship or fighting Starship. The others, not really. |

Don't you people have a sense of humor? At the end of his post he asks if anyone has seen the movie Mr. Roberts. The name of the ship in that movie was the Reluctant. |

Nothing in that design that can't be fixed by throwing money at it. Oh wait, the Federation doesn't use money… ;-) |

During WWII they used star name for many ships as they were running out of names. Star names would in fact be a good idea for starship names. |
