Mini AAR from last night's battle with the M'ville Skirmishers using Warbirds in Miniature flight rules:

2 June 1944…in preparation of the invasion MAJ Charles led a flight of P-38s on a "fighter sweep" along the Normandy Coast. The 4 Lightings were commanded my MAJ Charles and 1LT JD. It was a easy flight until the Luftwaffe struck…always look for the Hun in the Sun!
Hauptman Rob with two FW190s and Feldwelb Bing in two BF 109s struck and hit the Amis' hard.
Bing struck first blood when he hit 1LT JD wing man with a light hit on the first turn. On turn two Hauptman Rob fired at close range MMG and cannons and blew up a P-38. The Hauptman then turned, fired and the next turn sent MAJ Charles into a tail spin for 4 turns.
The fight swirled and fought above the coast line between 7-10 thousand feet with no side gaining advantage until turn 12 when 1LT JD fired and lightly wounded Feldwelb Bing! But the terror of the skies came to the rescue and put a few cannon rounds into JD and sent him running.

After 4 turns of spinning towards the earth MAJ Charles recovered and due to being shot up radioed to the Flight to head back across the channel! But it was a little too late as Hauptman Rob swept in and shot up the Majors P-38 and sent it burning into the hedge rows!
MAJ Charles did bail out and was rescued by the French Resistance. He safely was return to England on 10 June after units of the 4ID rescued him. (Found him drunk on cheap French wine and singing show tunes with the infamous and veru large and buxom French partisan called Mademoiselle LuLu!)
Hauptman Rob was awarded the Iron cross for downing 2ea P-38s and coming to the rescue of his wing man. He was very happy as he fired more times in this gamne than he did in the last 3 Cy6 jet games played in Mechanicville
