Fall-In is probably my favorite. I do miss G'burg a little bit (but it had to move, support services were terrible….) |

Having a slight issue with the color of the shirts… Gildan does NOT make a mustard colored shirt… their "daisy" is more yellow than I woud like. How about some thoughts on this? You can see the mustard color on the website… |
Poniatowski | 06 Aug 2014 11:47 a.m. PST |
Correction…. you can see their "daisy" color on their web site… |
TheKing30 | 07 Aug 2014 4:00 a.m. PST |
Daisy looks close – at least on the color chart. What about their gold or honey? |
Poniatowski | 07 Aug 2014 8:44 a.m. PST |
The choice is mine… I want to be as close as possible, Gildan make great shirts… so color choices are Daisy, gold and honey? Feel free to sound off and thanks for looking. Item number 2… I have been contacted by a variety of GM's who are not sure that their games are "in the system". Obviously, this is VERY important to all of us… for many reasons. I can say this: Zack won't be sending out the personal confirmation emails this year as we know the YM is functioning correctly AND it sends out a confirmation email to the email listed on the event submission form.. it pulls that info and sends out the confirmation. If you are a GM who submitted an event and did NOT get confirmation.. PLEASE contact me as I want you to be sure about your events. If you did NOT get a confirmation email… it could be from a variety of reasons… I am very sure it isn't because of the YM being brocken or bugged as it was tested many times. It is most likely because the GM might not have filled in their email in the acttual event submission form or they might have miss typed it. Another possibility is that they did not hit "submit" or "save". I tested the system myself with an event submission.. it is working correctly. Also, guys… since I have to help Zack manually enter in your club forms…. PLEASE oh please make sure they are accurate, make sure all of the GM's are members to get the weekend badge at the time of submission and will be active at the show… and, of course.. get them in BEFORE the PEL deadline. All info is on the website… YM is up and working correctly. T4T is going to be great and I have a very special guest GM running a very large game for me…. I am also working with a lot of speakers and might have found a very special speaker thanks to your guys input! Thank YOU! I really appreciate your inut on the war college! I know I have been very slacking in that area. I promise to get better guys. I am working on one area each show…. I enjoy doing this and giving back… and will continue to do so as long as HMGS will have me! |

The choice is mine… I want to be as close as possible, Gildan make great shirts… so color choices are Daisy, gold and honey? Feel free to sound off and thanks for looking. There is also Vegas Gold – 7507C. Or you could consider running with a Poppy Red – since some countries are adopting that as their "colour" for WWI – that might be a Heather Cardinal – 194C link |
Disco Joe | 07 Aug 2014 12:47 p.m. PST |
Well not really happy with the image on the shirt so I will not be ordering one. |
Poniatowski | 08 Aug 2014 4:26 a.m. PST |
Thanks.. I will check out the colors. Sorry Disco Joe, I am a mud slogger and no better way to kick off the anniversary than with a 1914 recreuitment poster. I thought long and hard on which image ot use. There ar elots of great ones for WW1.. but not so much for 1914. I almost went with 2 shirts again. One British and one German, but I opted for just the one. Sorry you don't like it, but it is one of the most iconic images from 1914 when they realized that the war would NOT be over before the leaves fell. |

Hey Poniatowski: What is the status of the vendor packets? I thought you mentioned in an earlier message that they were already shipped. I have not received anything and wanted to check to see if I was somehow missed. Thanks in advance, Doug |
Poniatowski | 08 Aug 2014 8:42 a.m. PST |
Doug, I will check with my vendor manager…. they should already be out. They should be coming by mail and email to direct you to the YOUR website for Fall-In. I will check this out ASAP. . |
Tumbleweed | 08 Aug 2014 3:03 p.m. PST |
We haven't received anything here at the Viking Forge yet either. |
Disco Joe | 09 Aug 2014 3:33 a.m. PST |
Dan, I understand what you are saying but to me seeing what it looks like didn't do much for me. Until I read what it represented I was unaware it was a recruitment poster and I might be wrong but I feel a lot more people will look at it and wonder why that when a picture of a fighting soldier might have been better. But I do hope it works out for you and that you sell lots of them. |

I'm just glad to be able to go this year and be a punter for the whole weekend. I'm going to spend money, play with toy soldiers, and otherwise wallow in wargaming goodness… Huzzah! Eric |

It was verified to me that all of th epackets did indeed go out. Sorry for being away a few days. Disco, I understand…also, please take no offense as none wa smean, so thanks fgor being "nice". This was a very hard decision to make.. I didn't want to go with the Kitchner one.. awesome as it is… it will have it's time and place. Now, with that said… I am sure you are all aware that you guys can aways make suggestions for the graphics too! And if you weren't.. you know now. A lot of CD pick pieces they like or think will fit their show. For me, I want it to be a group experience… so input form you guys is always appreciated. I know I cannot always please everyone, but I aim to try! As long as I am invited back to run a show, I'll take theme suggestions, art suggestions and, of course any show suggestions.. within reason…. as much as I would liek to do some things… I am not allowed…. free beer, etc… that stuff is right out! |

Hello everyone! PEL event submission closes on Monday the 25th…. This means games NOT entered into the YM will not be counted as "making the PEL", member or no…. and this does mean any club forms submitted at the last moment that do not get typed into the YM will also have issues…. As much as it is appreciated for clubs running events…. waiting to the last minute to pass your entry data off to the events manager to type in who then has a deadline to shut the system down on the 25th is a bit disrespectful. In the very near future, clubs will be entering their own events into the system. I am not trying to be a jerk here, but there are deadlines for a reason and a very tight schedule to be kept. If the event manager gets bombed with event subs from the YM on the last day, that is time consuming, but doable…. If he gets bombed with club forms which need completely typed in.. well…. that takes a LOT more time and I had Zack scedule a day off from his real job/work to plan to do events all day… I also told him, do what you can… any club forms not entered by the cut off will be dealt with by me. As far as events go, I want to say thank you to everyone who has been getting them in… I was extremely worried about the early and shorter than usual (one week shorter) event submittal timeframe… we are pushing 200 PEL events at this point and that is really good considering the recent changes. Once again, thank you VERY MUCH! While on the topic of event submittal…. there are those of you out there who are concerned about NOT getting confirmation for your submissions.. or claim to not have gotten them. I am pleading with you… please check ALL of your email accounts!!! Spam, etc… I can verifiably say… EVERY event submitted had an email sent by the YM system confirming the submission to the submitter…. EACH AND EVERY ONE….. Now… this means one of two things…. it went to your spam or it went to some other email address you supplied at some point to HMGS… SO PLEASE check your emails associated with your HMGS membership! The event confirmations were indeed sent. The only reaosn you will be contacted by the event manager is if there is an issue with your submission or the manager wants to ask you something or inform you that your first choice of times was not good and your alternate time was used. In other news… teeshirt proof looks very nice, I am wearing one now…. yellow is NOT the collor…. the image turned out nicely though. I am looking at honey and another mustard color (not from Gildan) this afternoon. Oh, brochures look great and you will see them well within the time frame needed to actually use them for pre-reg. Please continue to check the site… we have a special guest speaker on WW1 signed up now… He will be giving 3 lectures on th eoutbreak of the Great War… Thanks again folks…. and about the event submission thing… please, I am not tyring to be offensive… I scheduled an extra week for submissions to give folks more time… and this took away a week on the back end… meaning more work for my folks to do in a shorter time period. The cut off of the 25th is firm, pleas eget your club forms in AND make sure that anyone on them is an active member… because even if you make the deadline, if there is a membership issue when the data is pooled… those GM's not having current memberships will not be getting the free weekend pass…. If you have questions about your membership status, please visit the HMGS site and check your account. Your expiration date is right there. thxs, Dan |
Poniatowski | 27 Aug 2014 4:22 a.m. PST |
Latest and greatest update… You will nottice that some of you and soon to be all of you will have your Brochures… I am sorry, they went out a tad early this year… PLEASE do not lose them! You will need to keep them safe until the PEL goes up and pre-reg opens… PEL will be up today or tomorrow… Please note… refrain from sending in your forms until pre-reg opens or a day or so before… And now… I want to thank all of the GMs that read here…. thinsg were done effeciently and timely… at the close of the PEL subs… we had 308 events submitted… a few of these were seminars, but all in all, over 300 events were scheduled under the PEL and they events continue to come in. This show is promising to be better than last year. I knwo I didn't say too much, but it took me a whiel to get my actual numbers last year… 2013 Fall-In!, thanks to you guys and gals was the 2nd highest attended Fall-In! ever…. the show did well… and, if signs are true.. this year will be bigger and better. It is a good time for vendors to think about attending… the show is growing and once the vendor hall is full, it wil be first come, first serve in future shows. Regardless of the reasons… I want to thank all of you, GMs, vendors, attendees, etc.. for making this happen under my watch… I hope to grow the show even more in years to come if HMGS will allow me continue running the show. I also wanted to mention.. attendance was up too last year… and I am expecting it to go up again this year! Art work was ordered, tee-shirts are laid out and on order, PEL is closed and the show is looming ever closer… Oh.. one more thing to comment on… there is a huge variety of events this year…. a very nice spread of everything. |

Cap'n; 'Tis true. We are all praying for Dot. We'll still have a gathering nonetheless. I think it is set for Saturday. Guys, Sorry about the brochure making it so soon vs online reg. The brochure was supposed to be timed better, but you can never tell when their delivery will be with th etype of mailing we do. My bad… sorry. But, as a word of reassurance for the guys who pre-reg online…. don't worry… anything postmarked (mail-ins) to early… more than one week before online opens will not be opened until pre-reg opens. Shirt design and color is done… looks like the "honey" color won out. I have lots of concerns as always…. I try to address them with your guys feedback. One of my main concerns is filling the Vendor hall… I think it is about time it gets filled up… the problem is, some very large vendors do not come to Fall-IN! And this kind of kills the footprint… making the room look empty. There is other stuff I am trying to address too…. a little at a time… Moe…. I am trying to get those Pv 4's done… 5 for PnT and 5 for WWDP… I am waaay behind. At leats I will have a unit from OGP for bidding. |

Dan: Do you allow some of the vendors to run demo games in the empty space in the dealer hall? Just a thought to visually fill the space. |
Poniatowski | 03 Sep 2014 4:49 a.m. PST |
@history gamer… Actually, I am trying to make arrangelments to allow for this. There are really 2 ways to do this. 1. have the vendor buy the space/tables and run their games 2. allow them to use unfilled space/tables in the vendor hall. This makea for a few situations…. (wishfull thinking on my part)….. What is to be done if the vendor hall fills up? How do you handle it without other vendors becoming angry, etc… The way I honestly see it is this… I would prefer all organized gaming be doen in the events areas.. BUT… demo games could and shoudl be done at or near th evendor's booth… logistically, we cannto do this for free if the game table is near the vendor booth, but if the area is being filled up at the back of the vendor hall and there is room…. well.. I woudl say yes to it… they could run their demo games and put up advertisement.. BUT they could not sell from the table, etc… in that case they would need ot be charged for the tables use. I think it is a good idea if there is extra space, but remember… the tabels cost the organization money, and are usually ordered base dupon what the vendor manager turns in as "needed" or reserved… so often times, there is space, but no tables. It is definitely something to consider…. I will ask the others abotu it. |
historygamer | 03 Sep 2014 3:04 p.m. PST |
There always seem to be lots of tables of empty tables in the gaming area, so what is the difference? :-) I say, if you have the space, fill it with games, especially if you can't sell the tables to vendors. It will make the dealer area look better, otherwise people talk about the empty space and it becomes self defeating for the con to keep empty space. :-) I'll contact one of the dealers about running games for them if you have the space. Years ago my sponsor was often Scenic Effects. I know, I am dating myself with that one. :-( |
Poniatowski | 05 Sep 2014 12:42 p.m. PST |
I will work with Scott and see what can be managed… I do however have my fingers crossed that folks will see that Fall-In! is growing and that the dealers will want to be there and fgill the space. I might just have an area set up in the back for dealer demo games if I cannot fill the hall. As for the event tablles.. yes, they can look empty at times with the no shows, cancellations and gaps for set up and take down, but as of right now.. timing wise… I even had to put folks into the Host rooms because space is running out. We are at over 300 events so far just in the PEL…. usually there are a bunch more that come in after that time. We shall see. I cannot give an update on the deale rhall yet as my manager has not given an official "space" report yet. Dan |
