I painted up some walls for use in my Future War Commander Skirmish games and Tomorrows War. I like how they turned out. Now I just need more rebel slogans to add. Check out my blog for the details and a few more pictures. link

"Kilroy Was Here" (with peeking face image) and "Who Watches the Watchmen?". Great looking walls. "Vote for Pedro"??? |

Nice work! Love the "V for Vendetta" tag! |

I added some grafitti so some Slammers scenery (and vehicles) with Sharpie pens.
The advantage I found is that the Future coat I put on (soon) afterwards softened th edges of all the sharpie pens so they looked a bit like they were sprayed on with an 'in scale' spray can. Obviously – when it comes to slogans – I'd vote for Slammers go home! John T |

Great suggestions for the graffiti. I will be adding those slogans and others to the walls as I paint them. @TK 421: Know of any good suppliers of the train decals? What size would work for 15mm? @John Treadway: I really like you stuff. I will try some sharpies and see how they work. Thanks for the ideas. |

Kewl beans, Sean! I know, if I showed up to a game, I'd see all this new stuff. 15mm is sort of between HO and N scale, probably closer to HO. Wall art on the large size doesn't hurt. I've some decals, but never saw any with graffiti. Too bad the Train Store went belly up. It's really good to be able to look over the stuff in your hands. For some reason, I really want to see some slogan with 'groppo' in it, but nothing I think of would pass the TMP censor-bot. ;->= Otherwise, comments out of Blade Runner and 'Klaatu….' come to mind. Going for the future spin. don't you know. 'Soylent Brown is felgercarb!' John T: Those DO look amazing, especially on the structures. Nice faded/weathered look. Doug |

John, where is that monorail from? |
TK 421 | 23 Jul 2014 1:14 p.m. PST |
Go here, it's a good start. Walther's and others may carry others. I know Microscale industries makes some also. link |
John Treadaway | 23 Jul 2014 1:26 p.m. PST |
Thanks Doug sean68333 – don't mean to thread hijack, but… Javelin – the monorail is built by me. link I made the track with 3mm styrene with edges and channel from evergreen styrene shapes.
The supports are left over Ainsty Dalek scenery pieces in resin (from our many Dalek games – for example here link ) The crushed bits were resin smashed – literally – with a hammer (makes for a good busted concrete look!) with similarly crushed cars.
Ends were attacked with a blow torch…
The station is an N guage railway station raised up on plinths made from lego bricks (I actually wanted to keep the 'large brick' look so it worked out well) with Antenociti doors and windows added.
The trains are four prepainted N guage tram cars:
… suitably distressed.
I bought these on Amazon of around £5.00 GBP each. I built it for the Salute game link
but have used it alot – like here link John T |

Good link, TK 421! I'm still wondering why you aren't at your post… If someone wanted to make their own custom graffiti decals, there are any number of free graffiti fonts available online: dafont.com/theme.php?cat=606 You could use Word or Powerpoint to set the Fill and Line colors to different values, then print on DIY decal paper (Testors sells some). |

John, I've said it before, but I need to say it again: you are like unto a demi-god of terrain and painting! If I could splice your genes with those of Matakishi… well, I'd probably go to jail for some kind of genetic crime against humanity. Thanks for sharing! |

Now that is one awesome table. |
sean68333 | 23 Jul 2014 3:19 p.m. PST |
I want to play at your house John. Can I come over? WOW!!!! So much for being proud of my projects. |
John Treadaway | 24 Jul 2014 6:52 a.m. PST |
Javelin – you are very kind. My mate Roger built a lot of the scenery on that Salute table and it was very much a joint effort: I built scenery, Jim built scenery, Roger built even more scenery and dyed cloths, I designed the road sections and my mate Tim printed them out on a big inkjet printer at work… lots of hands. Not everyone has the advantage of being part of a big club which not only supports us on games but gives us space to play, an arena to show off in (how many shows will give someone a 36ft table…) and enables me to meet like minded souls on a reglar basis. napthyme and sean – thanks for the kind words: sean you can come over and play any time ya want! And as regards your scenery: proud, yes you should be – we all build it up a bit at a time. Even a big city like the one we used is built of individul buildings. And a lot of ours came from Japanese manufacturer Kato (model railway people) though the swamp area has a lot of resin buildings and the tracking station and industrial areas are all scratch and kit bashed (by Roger)
Roger does good work :) John T |

Wow. Amazing stuff! Inspiring, in fact. JT, that last pic reminds me of the giant smelting furnaces on Alien Resurrection:

Yep Dan – Roger is a whizz at sourcing old toot and turning it into scenery gold! I'm trying deseprately to get him to do some written "how to" articles for Miniature Wargames. John T |

I have one of those diecast trains for this very purpose. I can't quite remember the price but I'm sure you shouldn't have to pay a whole five pounds each for them… |
TheBeast | 25 Jul 2014 7:06 a.m. PST |
I've missing Gencon and Origins for a couple of years now, both as not going AND wishing I could, but if the Villager could take a couple of water wings, I'd definitely want a peek at Salute. Dan, those remind me of some Hot Wheels track motors[spin rubber wheels to fling cars onto track] I've found, but yet to see on the table. Cut up, look about the same as the furnaces, but with fan blades or grill on top. John, I'm constantly finding junk and having grandiose ideas, and getting nothing done. Sean has ideas, cranks them out, and STILL takes some of mine and makes good. Why, just yesterday, I was showing him this great idea for colony offices with associated shanty town… ;->= From the sounds of it, you and I both count ourselves lucky. Doug |

I can't quite remember the price but I'm sure you shouldn't have to pay a whole five pounds each for them… Seriously? If you ever run across another, buy it for me! I can't find anything remotely similar to that anywhere, and anything online that looks that nice costs scores (or hundreds) of dollars/pounds/drachmas/rubles! |
chironex | 25 Jul 2014 10:33 p.m. PST |
Never mind – just went to Toysrus today and saw the price, it was 9.99 AUD. |
