Saturday night at Historicon the HAWKs (Harford Area Weekely Kriegspielers) celebrated their 20 anniversary. The festivities included a large sheet cake, which was shared with all who were there in the club's room at the convention. The HAWKs was formed as an outgrowth of a non-credit course, that was called "Wargaming With Miniatures", held at the local community college in the Spring of 1994. The course was run by Andy Haag, who went along to become one of the founding members of the club. Two participants in that original course are still active in the club today, Eric Schlegel, and myself. Slowly the club grew by word of mouth, and today we have over 20 active members.

Twenty years! That's fabulous and a great club that does wonders in the "community" too. Congratulations! |

I'm officially old! I remember your first game room at Historicon '97. Congratulations on building an enduring institution! And I have to say – I always thought "Hartford" was a reference to a city in New England. So I learned something too! |

Lots of guys in blue – and Charlie Brown. :) Great idea guys, and I'm envious that you've had such a wonderful club manage to stay vibrant and strong for two decades. Bravo! |

Thank you all for the kind remarks and well wishes! The G Dog- you're not the only one to get confused by our name. We've had a lot of folks think we were from Connecticut over the years. So many so, that we included a map of Maryland on our banner we hang in our convention club rooms, so folks would get the idea that it's Harford county Maryland, not Hartford Connecticut. |

Best wishes on the next 20 years! I've played in a few of your games over the years and have always enjoyed them. HAWKS sets the benchmark for gaming clubs. |

You consistently have one of the friendliest rooms at Historicon; playing games for the fun of them rather than the lesser reasons some choose. Thanks for the games and congratulations on your anniversary! Best, Jim "Cyrano" :/7) |
