I grew up on SAC bases in the 50s and 70s with our twice yearly mandatory evacuation drills. Everyone who lived on base packed up and drove the thirty miles or so to our rally point. Free day out of school and a picnic. Since the clock has been wavering around the five minute mark since I was a kid, I'm not too impressed with it.

I've lived with the threat of nuclear annihilation for over fifty years now, what am I supposed to so? We learned to live with it, am I supposed to dig a bomb shelter in my backyard? If the missiles fly I don't want to be around for the aftermath anyway.
