There's a pretty expanding range of games out there that does a good job for 6mm gaming.

Anything that really isn't being scratched?

Proper targeted post-apoc rules.
But then there are not many dedicated PA 6mm ranges.
Plenty you can tweak to fit though of course..

IMO, rules are pretty much covered by already established games. I use several different games in multiple scales (15mm & 6mm, plus 3mm in the future), like 5150 Star Army & Battalion Commander, PMC2640, & KR16.

I just change the units of measurements from inches to centimeters, but keep the original "numbers."

Sharkbait – that's usually my trick. Works wonders on small tables too :)

What would a 6mm post apocalyptic game look like? Hordes of improv vehicles?

Medieval gaming?

Good hidden unit mechanics seem to be hard to find.

BOLOs. So far only Ogre has really handled them comprehensively, and in a simplified form. Once upon a time there was a game called OHMU War Machine that only existed for a second that promised a BOLO-centric or at least BOLO-friendly game system, but was anemic in its execution. Since then, niente.

I use 6mm but with the ranges as written. Never understood why a 12" range would need to be changed just because your figures were a little smaller…rules are simply not size dependent.

My Steel Crush rules were designed for future armor/BOLOs but they are on the back burner right now.

More about campaigns and gangs I reckon.

@Extra Crispy – I understand what you're saying about not changing the measurements. I certainly don't need to, but I often do in order to keep the board/table size smaller.

Edit – Thinking about this more, I suspect it would be dependent on the original ranges in the rules. If a tank can only shoot 12", it would make more sense to me leave it alone and not change it to 12cm.

With all the 6mm Sci-fi rules sets out there now, I think pretty much is covered in one way or another. For the most park. To name some – Future War Commander, The Crucible, Dirtside, Battle Tech, Strike Legion, Epic[4 + iterations/versions], DRM's Seeds Of War, Iron Cow, Prophecy Of War … and Exodus Wars is working on a rule set as well …

Angel – in the not-so-near future, there'll be a FiveCore thing for post-apoc, based pretty closely on Five Parsecs when that is done (since the structure of encounter-trade-recruit will work both places)

it won't be 6mm specifically but since 6mm skirmishing is a thing, why not? :)

I have this odd urge to do something in 6mm that is basically a "super hard" scifi game. A small number of powered armour troopers, kill drones, movement and weapon ranges to scale etc.
Jump troops moving all over the place etc.

10 troopers on an alien world, because it's too expensive to ship out a whole army, that sort of thing.

Bug Hunt or Horde as the baddies?

Weasel22 Jul 2014 1:42 p.m. PST

Not sure, though I imagine it could be both "tech" armies against each other, "tech' versus insurrectionists and humans vs bugs.

Well my take on Sci-fi gaming in general. It's a big galaxy let alone universe. So force/army tech levels and types will vary often. Humans vs. Humans … or Humie vs. Aliens, ie: Bugs, Or … other humanoid types – Orks, Eldar/Elves, Dwarves, Cat People, Dog Men, Lizardmen, Robots/AIs, Supernatural Chaos type, Little Green, Gray, Red, etc., men (and women !) … you name it ! I have many alien types in my 6mm gaming inventory. From many companies : GW/FW, DRM, Exodus Wars, CinC/PFC SEM, Microworld, TMG, GZG, etc. … Will be adding some from Onslaught, Khurasan, and maybe even a few Zombiesmith 6mm Quar !

BTW, here's a list I did on Tac Cmd a few months back … Well off the top of my head, just for the exercise – GZG makes Bugs like seen in SST, and Kra'Vak that look llittle like Predator aliens. DRM – Andrayadas = Androids , Kraytonians = High tech Lizardmen, Skyth = Bugs. Exodus Wars – Tarragin = Feral Lizardmen , Gurden = "Demonic Dragons" , Edenites = Androids & Zombies , Khazari = Space Dwarves/"Squats". CinC/PFC – Felids = Cat people , Ha-Lu-Ki – large 4 armed "frogs'' , Raptors = High tech Lizardmen , Marthak (Fishmen) & Cyborgs (Yellow 1-eyed Minions) = humanoid Aliens, Gastater = humanoid Aliens (with weird helms), Alien Mercs = see here, scroll down : link … MicroWorld – Kreen = Wasp and Frog type aliens , Lizard Riders = Exodite types , Beastkin = High Tech Bovine Aliens. Onslaught – Avians = Hawkmen aliens , Legion = Hybrid Cultists aliens , Okami = Very Hi-tech humaniod aliens, Sectnids = Hornet/Wasp like bug aliens. Plasmablast Games – Orbital Combine = Robots/Androids. Zombiesmith – Quar = Upright Ant Eater type aliens in WWI/Early WWII regalia. Darkest Star – Khiff = Upright Canine aliens in PA . Brigade – Cimexian = Bugs/Slug/slimy type aliens. Baccus/Command Horizen[sold to another company] – Alien Centaur-like creatures and worms. Troublemaker Games – Skinners & Gobblers = Redskin bald brutish ape/monkey like aliens , Eloi = pointy-eared big headed hi-tech aliens, Khurasan – Aliens of many shapes and forms …
