Why didn't Prussia entered the war in 1799 against France as Russia, Britain, Austria did?

No money to finance a war, still having problems with their share of Poland and the Prussians retained hopes of obtaining Hanover from France…. without war.

Hang on, unless I missed summat Hanover wasn't lost to the French until 1803. Then Napoleon used to dangle Hanover before the Prussians saying "play nice and I might think about thinking of giving you Hanover, maybe"

Oh, but Hanover was in the discussions before that time. "Officially" obtaining Hanover wasn't until 1803, but France figured to take it when the war with Britain resumed after the Peace of 1801, sooo… France was hinting at the possibility of Prussia getting Hanover. Napoleon was very good at playing the Allies and the minor kingdoms off against each other.

McLaddie, that sounds logical. But wasn't there a warprty as in 1805/06 was? That's only a few years later.

Hey, this is Prussia. There was always a warparty…. grin

Actually, I don't know. I do know that Prussia was strapped for money in 1799. They had to be financed Britain in 1792 and left the fight in 1795 when the money ran out. Part of the deal was getting a piece of Poland along with Russia and Austria.
