To go with the Japanese based Hiroseki Army link which I mentioned a little while back (and which – granted – all are not all as yet released as models by Brigade) their opponents in the the Kalan civil war are now available to play with link

picture

In 329TW, the planetary governments of Hiroseke and Stewart, re-ignited their feud on Kalan, an iridium- mining colony they had founded together decades before hand, and over which they had already fought one bitter struggle. Japanese and Scots were again in open warfare over production rights and were shooting at each other for another five years…

Using forces by Brigade for the AFVs and Armies Army for the infantry they make a new force of fanatics with generally rather poor leaders but lots of fighting spirit!

Try them out!

Splendid

I really like the new AT guns! You don't see enough of them!

I hope to have some scots guards ready in the near future, glengarry hats and the odd kilt. You might even find a bagpiper:)

Very nicely finished John as always :)

Like all the back story and the graphics for both forces looks like they would be great to play :) and maybe even Roleplay in ;)

Cheers for all your work on these :)

Thanks chaps

I had a bit of a catastophe with painting the AT guns and the infantry: they took an undercoat failure to the head (well, in the infantry's case, anyway…)

I lost some of the detail on the Keith's Brits: the Glengary hat conversion I did with the AA (kindly) supplied head (with a rucksack added by me in greenstuff) lost almost all of the facial detail, as did a couple of others, plus one of the four gunshields on the AT guns was very softened with thick spray (and took damage from my Dremel to look like it had been hit as a consequence). What happened was that an Army Painter Desert Yellow can went on so thick in one pass that it was almost a 'start again'.

I don't think it was the paint's fault, mind: I think the weather was just so damn hot that it dried in mid air and I was probaby too far from the toys…

Still, all went ok in the end: instead of Army Painter inks that I'd used on the main vehicles, I reverted to Army Painter dip (Strong) for the Brigade AT guns and the figures, with a follow up coat of Future and then Testors Dull Cote.

Decals (the little Saltires) from the source that Avamango pointed out on another thread on ebay and then home made 'not-basetex' to the 'Matakishi' recipie.

I thought they all turned out ok, I have to say: nice models and figures help, of course.

I just added another pic to show of the infantry better:

picture

Despite my mess up, I think you can see the detail that's sculpted on to the figures comes out nicely with a good dip (and – reference another thread on this forum – paint the eyes? TMP link you have to be joking: my life is way too short…)

I wanted to do something different with the force as well: hence the unusual approach to infantry and their place in the vehicles (ie suppling the secondary weapon systems) plus their use of mass rifle grenades instead of buzzbombs.

When it comes to the main vehicles, I took the main gun types from the stats that Tony at Brigade used for his Linton Lancers link – after all he designed the vehicles so I figure he must know what he's talking about!

Thanks Mr H

L4: if he can sing "I am Sailing" and add "in a space ship" in a mumbly line at the end, he could be either… :) Or both.

John – where did you get the vehicle number and name decals?

John – where did you get the vehicle number and name decals?

The numbers and vehicle names are all from Ainsty Castings. link

John Treadaway25 Jul 2014 4:01 a.m. PST

Tony: what Zac said. The numbers and vehicle names are from the Ainsty Castings' West Riding Yeomanry sheet (being suitably Anglophillic) but I didn't use the shield designs chosing the ebay sourced Saltires instead.

Tony if you want the Saltire flag decals here is the E-Shop that stock them and a load of other useful military markings for just about everything.
