Too bad, we lose another of the great ones. What does it mean when all the actors I know are dying. |

I am sad he is gone too. I always liked his characters and the shows he starred in. On another note, am I the only one who thought 'Maverick' meant Tom Cruise? 'Talk to me Goose!' |

James Garner was one of "the best" actors ever. He started out playing Bret Maverick and then took off. I grew up watching him in movies during the 60's and of course his best ever the "Rockford Files" in the 70's. Yes, he was a class act. He was hit really hard when his good friends Paul Newman and Efram Zimbalist Jr. went. RIP Jimmy. I will always remember you. Bob |

RIP Sir. First time we saw him was in "Nichols" in the early '70s! He was a hoot in that show! |

Sad news indeed. I grew up watching Maverick, the "Support Your Local …" series (I have them all), Nichols and his numerous movies. He was my wife's favorite actor and she really took the news about his dying really hard. Here's to you Jim until we all meet again. |

Can't imagine that a military history audience that comprises the TMP followers have not yet mentioned (to my knowledge) on any of the thread noting his passing what was to me his best two films. Namely, "The Americanization of Emily," his first (captivating!) pairing with his future long time friend, Julie Andrews, and the absolutely brilliantly written, directed, performed "36 Hours." Back when films were WRITTEN and not created with a computer program. If you've not seen either, please catch them on TCM, buy the CD's, or at least find them on YouTube. I can't even imagine anyone not being thrilled with either. As a fellow Okie, I mourn this man like a blood relative. TVAG |
