I know I'm opening myself up to a whole lot of abuse for the topic heading…. I bought a number of Bum kits (Japanese Army 1905-1930), I read previous mixed reviews on TMP -but decided to roll the dice anyway. The sculpts are nice and no flash, admittedly the plastic was strange;but I started out happy with the purchase. I pre-washed the figures and glued them on Popsicle sticks using watered down white glue, just like I do with all my other figures (Airfix, Esci, Orion, etc, etc). I primed them up, painted and brushed with Army painter dip. My problem now occurs -I can't get the %@%^#@%^@#%^ things off the sticks. I had to use an knife to cut them off, damaging the figures in some cases. What did I do wrong? Has anyone had this experience? I don't get it, I just breath on my other figures and they fall off with the watered down white glue. These B.U.M figs act as though I had used Epoxy AND Crazy-glue! Help |

The following is pure speculation on my part, but is consistent wirh my own similar experiences with different products: The plastic used was far more porous than you are used to, and the watered down white glue infiltrated the pores, probably more so than had you used it undiluted. |

Soak the wood in water overnight, that should release the glue. Next time use double sided Scotch tape….that's with 20/20 hindsight, not a criticism. |

Thank you both for those insights, that was exactly what I was looking for! :) |

For what itīs worth, I use undiluted white glue and have never had a problem getting figures off. I may buy a box of BUM and give it a try. |

That is why I gave up popsicle sticks in favor of simple, custom cut, scraps of cardboard. I can make them big enough to hold on to, and removal is never a problem. |

It was strange. I've never had a problem with any other company and I've been doing this for about 25 years, this was a new one for me. The plastic is really strange; flexible, soft and light -but brittle and easy to break. I had a Citadel paint bottle fall from a height of maybe four inches, broke the figure off it's stand (Caesar, Orion, Airfix, Stretlets would never do that). |

They definitely have a reputation of being brittle, but for some reason it makes me curious enough to buy some just to check them out. Maybe that should be their main selling point, that and a rather interesting range. |

That was what drew me to BUM, the interesting ranges -where else can you find RCMP and trappers or Japanese 1905-1930? |

Well it worked! I put the Popsicle sticks in a dish with just enough water to be level with the stick (so hardly any at all. Came back the next day and the glue had loosened enough for me to gently, with the aid of a screwdriver, lever the figures off. Thanks for the help! |
