hi there, I need some help with summer hols reading please. Which would be good intro books to the following three Tricorne/mitre periods please? War of Spanish Succession American War of Independence Great Northern Wars and Seven Years War as a cheeky bonus if possible. Last year I bought the best recommendations from another period and thoroughly enjoyed them so here goes for summer reading 2014! Fingers crossed, JJ |

Just do a TMP keyword search for books. There are many lists of books on just about any period. No sense in re-inventing the wheel. |

If you run across "Russia's Military Way to the West" by Christopher Duffy, that's a fairly good introduction to the GNW. Also, his 'The Prussian Army of Frederick the Great' and 'The Army of Maria Theresea' while dated in some aspects are still wonderful introductions [if you can get them at a reasonable price]. For the AWI, I've found Buchanan's "The Road to Guilford Courthouse" to be wonderful, as well as the book mentioned on the 'Peter Gilder's AWI Army' thread. This should be enough to get you started. Happy Gaming! |
