Ordered from Brigade Games in the US, they sent a package with an identifiable tracking number on June 2, 2014. Both USPS and Aust.Post say it was processed through 'sort facility' in Australia on 17 June. Package never delivered to me and Aust.Post say they never received it and its not their problem. Brigade Games asked USPS who said they delivered it to Aust.Post facility and will not take further action as its not their problem either.
So, is my package just sitting on a floor somewhere being ignored?
How can it be scanned and identified and disappear?

Over the past 8 years I've had 2 of many packages from GB go missing.

I've assumed some mail sorter or customs fellow is a gamer…..

Inquiries were made but I'd have to say it's probably not worth your while.

No consolation for you, but it's happened to me in the past.

I've had two go missing as well. Ring your local post office to see the local sorting centre, then make a visit?

I had a packet (non-gaming) from North America sit in limbo for about 6 weeks last year, and then suddenly pop out the other side. Go figure.

Just had a parcel come through from the US this week in about 5 days including the weekend. I have also had parcels 'hang up' for a considerable time such as a couple of weeks where no one could trace it.

It could well be some knob in Customs or the Federal Attorney General's Department have decided you are a potential terrorist or p*rn star & they need to check all your mail (know 2 businesses this happened too) – if that happens you can't trace the parcel until they release it (they must think crooks are even dumber than usual)

Ask your local post office for a complaint form – its a pale green multi copy thing. Fill it out, keep a record of the number on the form. They will take their own sweet time about it & try to fob you off with excuses like its not really your parcel until its delivered, so only Brigade can claim. At that point, contact the Federal Ombudsman's office and the Minister for Post & Telegraphs or whatever he is called today. If still no joy, try the 'Shame, shame' TV shows like 60 Minutes.

I've had so many problems with Australia Post, their Customer Service call centre is just so bad. They have often given me bad advice, inflated my hopes in vain, and then take absolutely no liability when they make a mistake. THey are just like scumbag insurance companies. I know this doesn't help the OP but I do know what your up against.

I think complaining higher up to the minister for miscommunication is a waste of time, he's the guy that thinks connecting optic fibre to analogue nodes is a good idea, or is that no idea?

Check the local Post Office.

Earlier this year I had a package sit at the post office for 4 weeks because I wasn't carded and had no idea it was waiting to be collected. Luckily, the newsagent lady knows me well enough to tell me I had something there when I came in for something else.

Worth a look.

It sounds like it made it to Aus, and the problem lies with AusPost. They have a complaint form on their website.

I used that when they 'lost' a parcel of mine. It turned up after I submitted a complaint.

Are there any shops with Postal Agents in your area? Maybe more than one? I had an experience, where an Australia Post delivery subcontractor, unfamiliar with the locality, left me a card, but took the box to an Agent way outside of our area. Our hometown Agency made me aware of this possibility. A physical check of nearby shops found the package. It must be pointed out, as well, that the out of area Agent thought the address on the box wasn't really in her domain, but didn't press the subcontractor on the matter either.

The cards left aren't always chock full of information on where exactly your parcel has been taken…..

Most of us tend to assume it's the nearest place with a counter and a couple of Post Boxes.

The very few misunderstandings I've had, in almost forty years of mail order and online shopping from the US, have all been with Agencies, not with Australia Post Post offices themselves.

Never had anything vanish without a trace.

USPS usually takes 5 days.
You can follow the package on their website.

Ring auspost customer service. They will do a check whilst you are on the phone.
